The president discussed the deal during a dinner at the White House with Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). In a statement, the White House described the meeting as "constructive" and that it focused on "tax reform, border security, DACA, infrastructure and trade." "The Administration looks forward to continuing these conversations with leadership on both sides of the aisle," the statement added.
I'd like to believe Tinyhands is doing this for the sake of being a decent human being but knowing just how monumental his ego is and how willing he is to do anything to have it stroked, I can't help but suspect this is entirely so he can score some brownie points and get people to say nice things about him

He wants the media and everyone else to say good things about him and getting protection for Dreamers will do it. I also just want to add that another possible reason an agreement was reached was that since Schumer is also from New York, Trump was better able to relate to him in some capacity.
If Trump was doing this to be a decent human being he wouldn't have put Dreamers in this situation in the first place.
From what I understand, Trump is doing this because a number of Republicans threatened to take the DACA to court and challenge it as an overstep of Obama's executive authority. Rather than have it go to court, and from what I hear it was likely to lose that battle, he rescinded it and forced Congress to act now for these people in a way that Congress has never been forced to before. Hence why he said it's time for Congress to "do its job," it's time for them to codify DACA into law properly rather than through a potential overstep of executive authority.
Somebody's cranky
The one good thing about trump is watching the GOP imploding
Somebody's cranky
Damn it, Mitch! You messed up so badly that now the Republicans have to work together with the Democrats on an issue!
More interesting updates (and in-fighting):
"gee, look I can apparently fix the messes I created by myself!"
Regardless of why, it's good that these things are occurring.

Last I checked the Democrats consistently try to work with Republicans, Republicans are just such obstructionists in general that you physically cannot compromise with them because they will not accept anything short of total victory. And even then it can still be unacceptable simply because it's perceived as coming from the opposition.

I seem to recall the Republican-controlled senate failing to ram through multiple versions of the ACA repeal (with or without the replace lol) using reconciliation as a way to avoid compromising with the Democrats this summer. And I seem to recall the Republicans voting to repeal Obamacare 60 times, knowing Obama would veto it and they wouldn't have to face the consequences of their decision. Now that they control the house they've failed to repeal Obamacare for eight fucking months despite it being a promise by Trump that he'd repeal it on "day one" of his Presidency. And by the way have I reminded you of Hillary's emails lately? SOROS!!! Stay safe and keep MAGA'ing :downs:
imagine if trump just started implementing dem policies because it got him praise
imagine if trump just started implementing dem policies because it got him praise
Considering the Republican Party is basically two separate parties unhappily camping out together and they frequently can't agree, Trump's only got one option for a unified message. It helps a lot that the Republican platform so far this administration has seemingly been "we can't decide just how brutually we want to fuck the American citizen in the ass, so we're not going to do anything", and that's not a winning stance for anyone. Republicans who support the gutting of the social safety net are unhappy that it's not happening fast enough, and everyone else is screaming bloody murder that the Republicans would even consider trying. The Democrats' policies will at least make some Americans happy and generate good press for him from established media (such as the New York Times, which Trump disparages one day and is deeply fond of and quavers for positive press from them in the next), while Republicans continue to spin their tires in the swamp and get mud all over everything and everyone. Trump makes the best deals. The best deals, I tell you. Everyone calls him the Dealmaker, he's the best. That's a verified fact. You can look it up in all the books.
The GOP is now watching the one they love get intimate with someone else. If only there was a word for that

so if dems don't agree to pay for the wall he can then blame them for dreamers getting deported

Trump baffles me.
Being a pathological liar and narcissist means that Trump lives in an illusory bubble built around himself that warps and revises history in realtime to ensure that The Donald is always winning. Anything that goes wrong is someone else's fault, and this insidious dodging of responsibility happens automatically and almost subconsciously. Trump can't accept that he's less than perfect and "Trump fails" is an outcome that simply can't happen. It's not that it isn't tolerated, IT CANNOT HAPPEN. He will look for any excuse to pin the blame on others, no matter how farfetched, because he can't stand the possibility that he could fail. This supposedly has its roots in his dad being hard on him and always demanding the best from the boy, setting up unreasonably high expectations and a desperate need for approval. The end result after 70 years is a man who can't possibly face losing. He still brags about beating Hillary last year, but sidesteps the fact that he lost the popular vote by claiming, no evidence necessary, that he would've won that too if it weren't for 3 million illegal voters WHO OBVIOUSLY ALL VOTED FOR HILLARY WITHOUT EXCEPTION because that makes sense. He didn't lose the popular vote, victory was stolen from him via cheating. He can't play the same games with his job approval rating, though, except to ignore it and call it fake news. Trump made the decision to end DACA to please his base but if you want to get mad you should get mad at Obama for signing DACA in the first place, not Trump who got rid of it at the expense of hundreds of thousands of peoples' lives because it can't be blamed on Trump! It's not ALLOWED to be, in his mind. Donald J. Trump, the Calvinball President
