Court of Appeal judges refused newspaper publishers an urgent injunction to stop ministers seeking the Queen's approval for the charter. Editors had argued their alternative proposals were not properly considered. The charter will create a watchdog to oversee a new press regulator.
I can't wait to see what tomorrow's Daily Mail headline is.

This is actually probably really bad for that whole freedom of the press thing but lets not let that get in the way of people thinking the press is evil.
This is actually probably really bad for that whole freedom of the press thing but lets not let that get in the way of people thinking the press is evil.
But some members of the press are evil. They use their positions as "journalists" to breach people's privacy, fearmonger through manipulation of statistics or just plain deceit, and focus on making huge profits at the expense of their integrity. Now, I'm not suggesting that I agree with this new system of regulation, but something has to be done about the quality of the press.

This is a pretty poor way to go about regulating it though. They seem to be pushing for regulation despite the fact that everything that happened is illegal anyway and doesn't need further regulation to stop. Personally I think the previously proposed plan to turn the self-regulation system into something legally binding was a better idea.
Glad it's got through despite this bullshit going about in the papers saying it "Shackles the press" because they are scared now that they will have to do something called proper journalism.
The what?
It was a recent inquiry into press behavior after a phone hacking scandal involving a major newspaper.
