Russia, Iran, Allies of Syria Warn US Against Further Attacks
A statement released by "the joint command operation center of Syrian allies," a group that includes Russia and Iran, warned the U.S. against further military actions in the war-torn country, following a missile strike on a Syrian air base last week.
Referring to its defense of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime, the group warned that they would support Syria and its people "with all means that we have."
"The United States crossed red lines by attacking Syria, from now on we will respond to anyone, including America if it attacks Syria and crosses the red lines," the statement read. "America knows very well our ability and capabilities to respond well to them, and we will respond without taking into consideration any reaction and consequences."
Pretty standard/not surprising but the last line really stands out to me.

Also interesting to note this part:
Earlier on Sunday, Rep. Adam Schiff of California, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said on ABC News' "This Week" that Russia is "complicit" in the chemical attack in Syria.
"Absolutely they're complicit," Schiff told ABC News Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos. "Russian intelligence may not be as good as ours, but it's good enough to know the Syrians had chemical weapons, were using chemical weapons."
The question of Russian complicity in the attack also came up in an earlier interview on "This Week" Sunday with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
Tillerson said he has "not seen any hard evidence" that Russians were involved in planning or carrying out the attack.

"Rest assured that we will liberate Syria from all kinds of occupying forces, it does not matter from where they came to the occupied part of Syria," the statement warned. "Russia and Iran will not allow the United States to be the only superpower in world."
Well that is just adorable.
we will respond without taking into consideration any reaction and consequences."
ok guys you go ahead and try that
Trump won't flinch from this, he may just send more bombs to show his strength.
are you guys fucking insane? our relations with russia are so low that they're at a level we haven't seen since the 80s. why are we trying to push the world to the brink of extinction?
Well that is just adorable.
Watching Russia desperately try to prove that it's just as mighty and formidable as it was during the days of the Soviet Union is always a bit entertaining, and simultaneously depressing.
Russia really just seems like the former football star at his local high school, whose life peaked there and has never quite gotten over their former glory, and spends their time reminiscing at the bar about who great they once were.
the consequences for a rash decision are more rash decisions (or threats of), who woulda thunk

Except that football star has the capability to, at any moment, snap and kill everyone at once.

Just the brink eh?
Climate change denial is pushing hard for full extinction already, the brink of extinction sounds pretty good in comparison.
Welp, I guess humanity has run its course long enough.

Well if/when he tries to flop his dick on the table, he shouldn't be surprised if someone tries to cut it off.

...Then suddenly the European Federation is formed.
and why exactly would russia nuke us, knowing we would also nuke them into radioactive dust?
Those are leftovers from a time when Russia was a global superpower with an immense level of power projection. Their economy (and influence) practically crumbled overnight and are unlikely to regain their former relative strength ever again, the conditions that lead them to becoming a superpower simply cannot be recreated in the modern era. An example of why they are incredibly weak is the fact that they are unable to totally annex Ukraine. Not because Russia cannot do it militarily, because they can, it's because Russia is not self sufficient or influential enough to avoid the inevitable economic collapse and Balkanization that would follow a pariah status from half of the global community. There was a time when their ideology could be found on four continents, but these days they have very limited global influence. Yes they are weak.

i'm afriad its genuinley true, for better or worse the USA is insanely strong compared to the rest of the world and now we've got a fool at the helm who's willing to use that strength

Not to mention that underestimating adversaries is foolish.

Because Russia can't stop invading their neighbors and America can't stop bombing the Middle-East.
Well that is just adorable.
They are trying to out loose-cannon Trump but it just comes off as feeble.
It's disturbing seeing so many people who think Russia still isn't a military superpower.
Just because the cold war is over doesnt make Russia any less of a threat. We simply took it more seriously back then because cold war tensions and "gommunism is literally hitler".
But nah, "semper fi maga DAE america is literally stronkest military??".
How about everyone fucks off out of Syria instead?

Ignorance is as unhelpful as aggression.
are there people in here really wanting us to instigate russia into attacking US forces?

I remember my History teacher telling me that at the start of WW1 Canadian Youth were so eager to enlist because they believed it was going to be a quick and easy victory and they'd all get to head home right after.

I really want to see Trump tear Assad to shreds, but if the consequence involves pushback from Russia, it can wait for another era.

Let there be no mistake: Russia's military strength may not be as substantial as the United States', but a hot war would be absolutely devastating. Even if America came out the other side in more or less one piece, it would be a Pyrrhic victory. Our military, and possibly even civilians in the domestic US, would suffer catastrophic casualties, and the global economy would be devastated.
"My army is bigger than yours, kid :smug:" sounds cool and all, but Russia is a global military force to be reckoned with. Avoiding war is in everybody's best interests.
Russia wont do shit but not for the reason everyone keeps thinking. Russia KNOWS Trump is prideful, they also KNOW he bends to the opinions of others about himself.
The moment Trump was starting to be viewed a Russian boy he immediately became lost to them as a business tool as the opinion of other people is paramount to Trump and if his Republican buddies call him weak for it he will do the exact opposite. Which is what he did here, he went full 180 to PROVE he is not a Russian man, so of course Russia replies in the smartest move possible which is to corner him. On one hand if he backs down everyone will say how Russia can strong arm the USA, but on the other hand if he keeps these strikes up he will lose the little support he has now in America. It really has nothing to do with Russia actually following through on it's threat, it has to do with keeping Trump a chaotic element in our politics through any means possible.
This of course does not mean they wanted Trump to bomb Syria, it is that this is just the most logical reaction to it. Now the question is how will Trump react, the man who upon being called sexist and misogynistic created a woman sexual assault awareness/ child abuse protection day. He is completely comprised of reactions and now that he is worried about appearing as a Russian lap boy, Russia is now using that very same fear to keep him causing problems for the USA.

Facepunch displays clueless analysis based off popular culture memes #555040
I'm sure that pithy little bit about high school jocks sounded really great in your head, but meanwhile every professional analyst thinks Russia is a very serious threat.
At this point Im going into "just live my life making cartoons and having kids and hope the world doesnt end in the meantime" mode
