I can't really describe what this video is about. You'll just have to watch it to find out. (Don't worry, it's not anything weird. It's just a guy talking and some pictures of his daughter.)

I don't know how media tags work.

The website where you can donate.
I was linked to this video by one of my YouTube subscriptions. He told all of his subscribers to check out this video, and so I did. As you can see, it's a rather sad story.
You know where this is going. Facepunch, I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to ask you to tap into those generosity reserves that I know most of you have. I'm trying to spread the word about this video, the guy, and his daughter. This is the only place where people will actually see and possibly care about my request, so here I am. I'm asking you, Facepunch, to donate to this girl and help her go to Hogwarts. (In all honesty, I don't really know what that means, unless there's a theme park or something.) Heck, if any of you have any importance on the Internet, it'd be great if you were to spread the word as well. It'd be great if you were to simply help spread the word in some way.
I don't have any connection with this girl. Heck, I wouldn't have known that she existed if Kevin (the guy I'm subscribed to on YouTube) hadn't brought it to my attention. I simply ask because I feel that I should at the very least try to spread the word. Give me boxes, ban me for being in the wrong section, I don't really care. I'm just trying to bring attention to this case. I'm sure you're tired of hearing about these kinds of things, and you might be angry at me for sounding like just another preachy do-gooder asking for donations to charity, but thanks for reading anyway.
I donated
I donated too
Jesus.
I had to pause the video during the second half. You can hear his voice trembling.
-snip-
Seems I can't get the tags to work either.
That is one awesome dad.
Donated all the money in my paypal to this. Only $12, but every cent counts.
I'm broke...
goddamnit why am i such a poor motherfucker and i can't donate
:v: I wish her the best of luck?
... Fuck it, I tried.
Fuck man, I was watching Whose Line and this is a total downer, I mean holy fuck, I feel awful.
Donated 15 dollars.

It gets worse because of the pictures of her, she just looks like, less healthy every one. :c
[editline]9th April 2012[/editline]
I mean goddammit. I can't even imagine going through this as a parent, and they want something so.. minuscule?* But it's so fucking sweet, I REALLY hope she gets to go to Universal. Someone should try to bring this to Radcliffe's attention, see if something can get whipped up.
Kind of looks like Terry Fator
While this is a noble cause, would it not be more productive to donate to a cancer research foundation to help prevent children like her from dying in the future?
I don't have any money in Paypal account to donate, but this is one of those things that I really would like to donate to. :(
While this is a noble cause, would it not be more productive to donate to a cancer research foundation to help prevent children like her from dying in the future?
No, many causes has people working in them and donations are used to fund their wages.

Media tag this link instead

(You can't do it with https ones).
For example:

That's the idea, isn't it? They can do something productive... like research.

Call it a conspiracy, but I think they've had reasonable progress for ages now, but they haven't found a way to massively profit from it (yet). Look, if people really wanted to help fight cancer they would make the medicine and treatments far less expensive.
That's like with the common cold too. You're telling me they've got a vaccine for everything under the sun short of AIDS, and yet they can't figure out how to cure such a simple rhinovirus? Please. The cold medicine market is too profitable.

I don't think it's so much a conspiracy, it's just the way business works and it's ugly. I don't really want to get into an argument about it. It was just a suggestion.
Has it never occurred to you schmucks how easy it would be to fake something like this and get away with it?
I didn't donate and neither should any of you
No, many causes has people working in them and donations are used to fund their wages.
this might be the dumbest thing i've ever heard ever
"don't donate to cancer research, it just goes to pay for.. the wages of researchers"
yeah dude A+ spot on

You simply radiate compassion, but you're right. Requests for donations should be scrutinised, especially on the internet.
Why would people shun KONY 2012 yet fall for this?
Why would people shun KONY 2012 yet fall for this?
Kony 2012 was popular with the facebook activists, which is generally a clear indicator of bullshit
This is a little more ambiguous
Donating when i get home.

There's countless proof that the Invisible Children thing is a scam, while this guy has pictures of Ariel and you can tell by the way he was on the brink of tears that he wasn't lying. Plus, you just need to donate a small amount of money, like 50 cents as he said, compared to the $20 kit Kony 2012 had. Also, what's the harm of donating a dollar out of your bank to either a dying cancer victim that can have one more dream, or just a really convincing guy that sure knows how to make money?

Because people would rather spend their money on games and porn. Whether or not it's a scam, that's the idea of charity. You never really know where it's going, but part of charity is having faith that the receivers will do the right thing.

Firstly, the reason you can't cure the cold is that it is a virus. It mutates so a vaccine would only be effective on a tiny number of cold cases. To cover just a single year you would probably need quite a few vaccines. Then there would be more the next year.
On cancer drugs, the R&D money doesn't come from anywhere, they HAVE to make it back up, and charging a lot for the medicine is how they do that.
To the person who says it goes to wages, of course it does. Cancer researchers are almost all entirely specialised and focused on their research, so it's not like they can do it for free.
What else was I gonna do with the $1.32 in my paypal

It took literally two minutes to check back the history on his channel and confirm that his daughter is indeed in poor health. I don't regret donating at all. Helping someone who's dying have some peace of mind is a good thing to do with the $12 I don't need. Feel free to believe that we shouldn't donate though. I'll be happy to know that the money went to help brighten a dying girl's last days.

There's this thing called research. It takes just a few minutes. Maybe you should try it before jumping the gun and telling people not to donate.
