So I was walking along like any other normal day when I look in a ditch and find a wonderful piece of hardware that just looks freaking awesome. I figured, what the heck and take it home. And now it is sitting proudly in my room. Only problem is. I don't know what it is. I did however make a thread about it on another forum but it only lasted a few minutes, what I did get out of it is that it's a powerline insulator (I think) and it is treated with a very dangerous chemical. It has been in my room for a couple weeks now. Should I take it out? I have been feeling sick lately... That's probably me just being paranoid now that I know what it is. Is it too late? Do I have teh cancer? Or was I just being trolled? Pictures:
I think your best bet would be to lick all of the possibly dangerous chemicals off just to be safe
Looks like a electric conductor from the top of generators. If that's what it is you should be fine to keep it... If it's the other thing you said... Get it the fuck outta your house.
It's a post-holer. For digging posts. [sp]Gasp, I'm not serious.[/sp]
Shove it up your ass Post pics
It's a post-holer. For digging posts.
wouldn't it be in a screw sort of shape if this were true kind of like this

Ditch that thing ASAP, my friend had one like it on his desk and he developed a tumor on his neck that hospitalised him.
Generators, transformers, conductors... Seems no one knows what it really is. And I'm sure it's not a post holer. It has a hinge on it and the rings around are made of rubber.
Generators? No, they are on transformers.
Meh. I get the two confused occasionally.
looks like the things on transformers. Also, nice zebra themed room and shirt. \/d'aaw

Just go to the doctor and get tested. Jesus man you have no idea what kind of shit could have been in contact with those things.
Just go to the doctor and get tested. Jesus man you have no idea what kind of shit could have been in contact with those things.
Really? What's the worst case scenario?
i think its given you aids
Really? What's the worst case scenario?
It is covered in carcinogens and you now have a terminal brain tumor

They are coated with an extremely potent cancer causing compound to protect them from the weather, which is fine when they're hanging in out in air where nobody can touch them. As the compound decays (it needs to be re-applied every once in a while) it normally spreads out in the air and is harmless, but you've got it trapped in your room where it can kill you. Get rid of it, see a doctor.
Ditch that thing ASAP and yes, I'm being serious. It DOES look to be treated with dangerous chemicals but I can't be sure without examining it in real life... Better safe than sorry OP.
Ditch that thing ASAP .
It's funny because he found it in a ditch! Haaaaaa........
Basically the above posts. If you were storing them outside it would be a different story, but you could be fucked since you were storing them indoors. Just visit the doctor tomorrow. It would be really interesting if they were coated in some weird shit and facepunch ended up saving your life. [editline]12:26AM[/editline] Also don't panic [editline]12:26AM[/editline] But you might not want to sleep in your room tonight. Just in case.
It's just a power line insulator and it's not poisonous.

They look fucking cool. But I wouldn't put them in my room without thoroughly power-washing them.

It's the altered insulator artifact from Call of Pripyat, give it to Hermann quick, it gives out -6 radiation and has no positive side-effects.

What would a doctor do for me? Anything I can do myself? I generally don't like doctors. I'll do what I can to get it out of my blood stream. Would it be a good idea to treat it like drugs and do what I can to get it out of my bloodstream?
