Searched around a little and couldn't find any previous threads, sorry if this is late. Just got one today, my brother thought the latin "E PLURIBUS UNUM" was spanish and that Mexicans were taking over 'merica. Anyways...
The current Lincoln cent's reverse (tails side) design is emblematic of President Abraham Lincoln's preservation of the United States as a single and united country, as required by Title III of Public Law 109-145, the Presidential $1 Coin Act of 2005. While the obverse (heads) continues to bear the familiar Victor David Brenner likeness of President Lincoln that has appeared on the coin since 1909, the reverse features a union shield with a scroll draped across and the inscription ONE CENT. The 13 vertical stripes of the shield represent the states joined in one compact union to support the federal government, represented by the horizontal bar above. The horizontal bar features the inscription E PLURIBUS UNUM—"out of many, one"—while the inscription UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is depicted along the upper rim of the coin. The union shield, which dates back to the 1780s, was used widely during the Civil War. The shield is also featured on frescoes by Constantino Brumidi throughout the halls of the U.S. Capitol Building completed in the mid-19th century. Why? Why the fuck do we need a new one? Was the current design "not working"?
Captain America now protects our pocket change with his shield of Justice.
Damn, I'm gonna miss the tiny little Lincoln.
Why? Why the fuck do we need a new one? Was the current design "not working"?
because Obama wanted change for our change. :downsrim:
Looks fine.
Okay. Who really uses enough pennies to care what they look like? Really.

New design? Lets start by removing that "in god we trust" B.S. - what happened to separation of gov't and religion?
It's nice. It's also worthless. I want to see us start charing even amounts for everything.
How nice, the Christians have had their say :downs: Boxes = you support the "In God We Trust" phrase
Okay. Who really uses enough pennies to care what they look like? Really.
This. Aside from that, it does look nice.
It should be a profile picture of Josh Brolin instead of Lincoln.
Eh, I prefer the old version. I find the monument more fitting than some shield.
It looks like some kind of amusement park or arcade token.
New design? Lets start by removing that "in god we trust" B.S. - what happened to separation of gov't and religion?
why are people rating this post dumb
:foxnews: OBAMA REMOVES OUR REPUBLICAN'S MEMORIAL FROM THE PENNY
Why don't we just nerf the penny altogether, one penny costs two cents to make. And people wonder why we're in a recession (sorta).
I like it. Finally something new in America.
-snip-
Round all less-than-1 currency to .5 and 1
Why does it look fake.
Why does it look fake.
It doesn't look fake.
Why does America have "In god we trust" on their coins. That's pretty silly.
america is stupid like that
