The UK's terror threat level is being raised from "substantial" to "severe", Home Secretary Theresa May has said.
The new alert level means an attack is "highly likely", although Mrs May said there was no intelligence to suggest an attack on the UK was "imminent".
She said the level had been raised in response to events in Iraq and Syria. It is the second highest of five possible UK threat levels.
Best stay away from the london underground for a few weeks
:tinfoil:
I highly doubt that anything's actually going to happen.
Don't really know what else to say other than that's a bit weird.
I bet (and hope) nothing will happen.
The problem is these 'terror threat levels' are always so high and nothing happens.
Excuse to have more armed police patrolling much?
ps I'm against the arming of officers, I mean the gov will use it as an excuse.

I heard on the radio the Prime Minister is going to make a statement in about 10/15 minutes.

There will be idiots out there who see the level increase as "Challenge accepted"

Better safe than sorry bro.
Ever since 2006 (the year it was created) it's been going up and down from "Substantial" to "Severe" to "Critical".
"Moderate" or "Low" have never been used.

The exact same as May says I assume.

Something is going to happen. But the UK terror level being raised was a response to things happening elsewhere though.. :v:
"An attack is highly likely due to possibly blah blah ISIS blablah, but nothing suggests that an attack on the UK is imminent. Blahblablabla."
theresa may is an imbecile.
Is that speech being streamed anywhere?
The US replaced their threat level system with a new one that issues time-limited alerts about specific threats, we should do the same

They are probably afraid that if something actually happened with the threat level set low, they would look stupid and irresponsible.

So it's in reaction to ISIS/IS/The Furry Tree Friends/whatever they are calling themselves this week, their rapid growth and the approximate 500 Britons fighting for them at the moment and the possiblity of their continued growth.

Why would anyone want that?
Well as long as they don't plan to bomb my bedroom im fine :)
Is that a unicorn on his seal?
Fear mongering at it's best, yesterday danish police walked around one of the bussiest train station in Denmark for hours with machine guns. Offcause it was bullshit and today it turns out it was a muslim guy on the way to a school exam with a printer, because the school has a stupid rule you have to bring your own printer if you want to print from your laptop. It's amazing how much fear the media and government has incited in people all over the western world since 9/11.
Fear brings irrational policies, such as the patriot act etc.

Yes. It represents Scotland (the Scottish Royal Coat of Arms is two unicorns) - and the Lion represents England.
