• Presentation about Acid Jazz

Hello, I need to prepare a presentation about Acid Jazz in my music class. The problem is that I can't find any good sources of information about this genre. It'd be very helpful if anyone could give me some directions :) I'm also considering making my own Acid Jazz samples to show to my class, which will then be posted here. I've also made a little bit of "Jazz" some time ago but I don't know exactly if that is Acid Jazz: Any feedback is welcome. It would also be nice to know if this could be considered Acid Jazz. If not, maybe I can remix it using more electronic instruments?
I will say as a resident of New Orleans; This is by far considered Rhythmic Jazz. But sadly, not Acid Jazz. It's got all the characteristics of it, however it just doesn't have that wavy acidized synth that has made Acid music what it is today. Everything else sounds really good though. And for your sources, you could just use Acid as an overhead then talk about how it transcended genres into branches like Acid Jazz or Acid Trance.
wow, fast reply. Thanks for your input, using Acid as an overhead might be a good idea indeed. As of now, im not sure what really defines Acid Jazz though. by wavy acidized synth work you mean something like this perhaps? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ti5UZtx2uaM could this be considered true acid jazz? It sounds really "loungey" to me. people also call stuff like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sxr5ppZf7eA&feature=related or this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pE1gTYd9EDc Acid Jazz, so that's why I'm a little confused. This sounds more like some generic car chase jazz lol

What gave Acid music it's signature sound was a wavy sine synth such as: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjESQsn4iYA&feature=related (Sorry for the crap quality video) but it gives a good example about the basis of Acid music. That wavy-yet punchy synth is what gave acid it's place in electronica. Acid Jazz isn't technically the same as true Acid, however they share some similar qualities such as: BPM (Beats per Minute) flow, structure, and piano chorus. But Acid Jazz isn't truly Acid music by definition. However music shouldn't really be classed into genres simply because of transitions in style. But Acid Jazz is considered Acid music just an off branch of it.

Less breakbeat. Squarepusher has a tendency to mix Acis Jazz with Drum n' Bass, at least in his early days. But his songs are the only tru Acid Jazz songs I know, though. But basically, Acid Jazz is Jazz-Funk mixed with Acid electronic music. You're a little late. The presentation is already done, it went fine lol
