I'm going to London next Friday for a nice quick holiday (until the 29th of April). Fellow UK Facepunchers and anyone that has visited London before, what are the must have places to see and food to try? Also, any tips regarding transportation during late night (my plane lands after 11 PM @ Gatwick).

Tubes will be working until 12:30 which is standard transport around London.
Go up The Shard - it costs like £20 to go up but you can say you're going to the cafe which is only like 3 floor from the observation level and go up for free.
London Dungeon - Its basically fun history
Buckingham Palace
London Eye
Madame Tussauds - Waxworks
London Tower - Go see the Crown Jewels
My personal favorite, The Royal Surgeons College - If you're not squeamish its extremely interesting. Its basically a room full of pickled organs
Imperial War Museum
Madame Tussauds
Camden Market
Royal Surgeons College museums
the Royal Armouries
also Denmark Street if you're into music
these are all things I enjoyed when I visited London
Tate modern is free.
London eye is cool to experience, lots of war museums art museums etc.
i like soho and camden
tower of london, buckingham palace.
lots of homeless people around tate modern for some reason. More so than any other area ive found (not that that is a sight)
The whole area around High Wycombe is wonderful if you feel like travelling out of London a bit. Maybe visit the Hellfire Caves.

That Shard tip is great.
I'll do it next time I'm in London.
Loads of the museums & galleries are free, if you're into that sort of thing - Science Museum, Natural History Museum, National Gallery, Tate Modern etc.
Walking round the parks and palace is also nice, so long as it's good weather.
If you like theatre there is tons to choose from, in particular the Globe (mostly Shakespeare) - if you don't mind standing in the yard, it's only £5.
Make sure you get an Oyster card for travel, it's at least 3 times cheaper than paying in cash.
Everything's expensive and people aren't very friendly.
But some of the museums are neat and the shard is cool. London is good for no more than a day. I recommend the west end theatres too
Having been around the Baltic, I thought England overall was one of the friendlier places in that general region. :v:
Londoners can be pretty snobbish ('specially around Kensington) but that aside, it's a really beautiful city.
You might not have time for it if you're only in London for a few days, but something to keep in mind are the Royal Parks! Hyde Park's particularly lovely if you walk down the Serpentine, and if you're heading to Buckingham Palace you also can see St. James's Park along the way. Tate Britain also has free admissions if you're keen on British art, and it's only a short walk away from the House of Commons. Gonna echo what's already been said in here to get an Oyster card - your wallet'll thank you.

My hostel is near Hyde Park. I already have an Oyster card with 20 pounds on it, thanks for the tip!
I definitely recommend the imperial war museum.
science museum and natural history museum are both free and bitchin. also take a walk down southbank towards the tate modern youl see a lot of cool stuff like the skate park which is always nice to watch
Tinpan alley is amazing if you are into music, it is just one road of cool music stores.
Forbidden Planet is a must if you love comics/collectible shit.
Camden Market is good for cheap food/clothes/trinkets
Hamleys Toy Store on Oxford Street is brilliant, the basement is all gadgety things and everywhere else in it makes you feel like a six year old again
O2 arena has a British Music Experience thing going that you can get tickets online for and if you have the spare money, you can walk over the actual thing itself
Hope you have a nice time!

Not a UK'er, but if you're a Beatles fan, the zebra crossing outside EMI Studios (also known as Abbey Road Studios) on Abbey Road is a HUGE tourist attraction.
chavs
Cardiff if you're a Doctor Who fan
Brown teeth and inbred people

Also head towards Leicester Square and check out the Prince Charles Cinema - I go there whenever I can!
Here's a list that I've compiled so far, looking good!
The Shard
Hunterian Museum
Piccadilly Circus
Camden Market
Buckingham Palace
London Eye
Imperial War Museum
Forbidden Planet
Cybercandy
Japan Centre
The Heart of Gaming
Blade Soho
The Sherlock Holmes Museum

go on the tube from London Bridge to Baker Street at 8:45 in the morning.
If your a Harry Potter fan go to Kings Cross Station it has 'Platform 9 3/4' or get a boat tour on the river Thames.
I rather enjoyed Covent Garden, when I went there was a guy juggling chainsaws whilst only wearing his boxers... at the beginning of February.
Come to Hounslow.

It's great, but I believe it's closed until July for this year. Also, the science museum is pretty good.
