I was watching some footage of this earlier. Apparently in China there's an app where you can livestream footage from your phone as long as you hold down a button... I saw like a half dozen clips of people filming the explosion and the footage ending as the shockwave hits them, presumably because they died and/or their phones were destroyed. One guy caught a split second of a huge wall flying apart before it came toward him.

Supposedly it was an explosives depot that went up.
Watching the video, I thought the big fire in the distance was the explosion.

or, to be more optimistic for a lot of them, they simply released the button when the shockwave hit (and not because they just died)

Yup, the guy who filmed the first footage on the second video is surely dead. That wall there just got pulverized, even without intense kinetic forces, pressure alone kills a person on the spot.

this is sadly not the cruelest joke that I've seen today due to the fact that many Hong Kong people nowadays hate China so much that they're pretty much seeing this whole incident as a joke.
This whole situation is tragic. I hope the area won't be contaminated for generations because of this incident.

Wow that's insane! I read that there is likely cyanide and other toxic chemicals gas still in the air around that area. This is a terrible incident...
