(WXYZ) - WXYZ-TV Chief Meteorologist Dave Rexroth was seriously injured in a fireworks accident while vacationing with his family in Iowa City, Iowa. The accident, which happened on Friday night, caused Dave to lose sight in his left eye.
He is currently hospitalized in Iowa City and is scheduled to undergo surgery on Wednesday. That will begin the process of Dave receiving a prosthetic eye. He expects to fully recover by September.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Dave and his family and they have our full support during this difficult time.
Works in Detroit, yet gets his eye blown out in Iowa...
Seriously tho, hopefully he has a speedy recovery, this is the weatherman I watch here in the D. Poor guy
Don't look down the tube.
One of my favorite meteorologists. Been getting my weather news from him ever since Jerry Hodak retired. Passionate for his job and does a great job at it. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. I pray for a speedy recovery and hope to hear him report the weather this fall.
I wish those newscasters would kick the dumb news accent and posture and speak normally when addressing news about an injured coworker. It just makes it feel so fake and gross.
He came to my elementary school when I was young, he was a pretty awesome guy. He made the co2 lab beakers with the fog coming out and everything.
