The only shitty part of Steam is that much of it can be very slow at times and the fact that you must have a working internet connection to play games. Fore say it's a rainy day and the internet goes down, no motherfuckin' games.
It runs fine on any 2006+ computer and offline mode actually works fine now.
You have to have an internet connection to switch to offline mode in the first place which is kind of dumb, but still, there's a lot more good than bad.
"Oh man you have to do 6 clicks to download a 40 dollar game that got over 70 GOTY awards for free ? Fuck that! Steam sucks!"
He doesn't deserve free portal.
"Fuck steam for going out of their way to give ungrateful douchebags like me a free game on a mac, which probably shouldn't be playing games at all! God damn you steam, I'm too stupid to notice the obvious and I'm going to whine about everything!!!! :crying:"
You have to have an internet connection to switch to offline mode in the first place which is kind of dumb, but still, there's a lot more good than bad.
That's more of an anti-piracy thing, I think.
You have to have an internet connection to switch to offline mode in the first place which is kind of dumb, but still, there's a lot more good than bad.
Not true. I just disconnected my internet, connected to Steam, selected Offline Mode, and it worked.
He is a fuckwit. "Had to get a 'hack' to start the download" :downs:
Now I get why there are rarely any games for mac, most of their userbase can't even install a free game.
I want to punch this guy in the face so hard. Spyware? It's the steam update news, it shows updates for steam, steam games AND when new games are released. It ain't spyware, you prick.
Honestly, simple computer users should always check out the settings on a new program the second they get it. Like said before, this guy doesn't deserve it.
Ahahhaha!!!! What a idiot. [sp]Stop using blogs to download shit.[/sp]

This guy needs to fucking learn to use a damn computer
Other than the fact that everyone raging over this is getting trolled by him, its all cool. I looked at the other videos he's made, and by the looks of it he's a troll, nothing more. He makes videos like that to piss people off and make them rage. And by the looks of it, he's succeeded quite well.
Not true. I just disconnected my internet, connected to Steam, selected Offline Mode, and it worked.
It used to be the way he described it... Several years ago.
Exclusive Mac User, Nothing to see here
I think he had some real concerns. I can see why he'd want the latest version of steam on the website. It's usually a pain in the ass to keep installers up to date on your website, but it looks more professional if you do. I don't really have a comment for installing portal. I already had it, so I haven't been able to try getting the free copy. He may be right, I don't know. And about the color settings. That was a good point. You could tell that Portal was changing his color settings, and it's super annoying when games try to do whatever they want to your screen. I've run games that think it's a good idea to steal your mouse even in windowed mode, and the only way to get it back is to exit the game. Also, I don't see any reason why Portal wouldn't run on his mac. I don't know his specs, but it looked new enough to at least run. It even crashed the whole system once. Crashing a system is never good, and it wasn't Apple's fault it crashed. [editline]11:28PM[/editline]
I want to punch this guy in the face so hard. Spyware? It's the steam update news, it shows updates for steam, steam games AND when new games are released. It ain't spyware, you prick.
1. He said adware. Huge difference. 2. I can see how that can become really annoying. Why should an application just decide for itself to run at startup? And to force users to view it's ads? I certainly don't want an application that thinks itself is the best thing since Jesus and can do whatever it wants to my system.

This one. And what's all this talk about requiring an internet connection to play your games? It is my understanding that you need to run Steam in offline mode at least once before it works properly.
unfortunately you can't turn the ads and the run on system startup off there's no option for those in settings or whatever
I know there are settings for it, but they shouldn't be the default. Those options are way too intrusive. I'm a programmer, and I wrote applications. My goal has always been to be as unobtrusive as possible. There's no reason for that.
Yea, I don't like fucking ads or "adware" to be advertised on my computer telling me all these great deals that lead to me getting awesome games like Mass Effect 2, Bad Company 2, Dead Space, Assassins Creed 2, Left 4 Dead 2, and Dragon Ages: Origins for 25% of the original price!

Aha, I didn't notice the 'downloading' bar when he said it had finished downloading. Awesome. [editline]08:07AM[/editline]
Other than the fact that everyone raging over this is getting trolled by him, its all cool.
This guy needs to fucking learn to use a damn computer
He's a mac user. He doesn't know how to.
Why has no one done this before?
