[QUOTE]This meeting was supposed to be about party unity but, from the very beginning, they proved that was never their intention. The establishment Democrats nominated Governor Cuomo to be our delegate chair to the DNC even though all of the Bernie delegates, who made up half the room, were against it. We decided to a put the issue to a vote and, when asked to raise a hand if anyone objected to Gov. Cuomo, half the room raised their hand. However, Michael Reich, the state’s Democratic Committee chair, ignored our motion.
Some of the delegates, like Nomiki Konst and myself, went up to the front and took the microphone to voice our dissent on behalf of the Sanders delegation, but the organizers cut off our microphone.

That was when I proceeded down the aisle to rally the Bernie delegates to decide on next steps, and while on my way an older, male Clinton delegate slapped me with the back of his hand from behind and told me to sit down. So I ran back and got my friend Kat Brezler, who was live streaming, to go and get Eddie Kay to come up and speak to Basil Smikle about the whole incident. On our way back, I confronted the man who assaulted me and told him “don’t you dare touch me ever again,” and at that point he beat me with his cane. It was all caught on camera.

(its clear that the source has a clear pro-bernie bias, but i cannot find any other sources. if you have other sources please post them here)
I did find the raw video mentioned, its half an hour long, and captures the whole ordeal

It was also mentioned what happened in a tweet

in all honesty, quickly skimming the video I find some of the bernie supporters rude, but even in the first few seconds you can see that the Hillary side is completely ignoring the rules
EDIT: the "assault" takes place at ~4:25 in the video
The hostility and the indignation of hillary supporters is pretty awful. They believe Bernie and the socialists are just part of this foreign white male socialist element trying to hijack a party that has nothing to do with their post-60s tradition, or better yet has moved on to something greater (which boils down to race over class).
These are the kind of people that balk at the idea of the party having moved to the right over the decades, and find its progressive wing and related spontaneous movements like Occupy Wall Street a useful source of ideas and rhetoric to be de-clawed and appropriated (drained of class and used in a race-based cultural war against the GOP), but something not to be allowed near power. Party 'unity' is overrated, American liberals and socialists have remarkably little in common and it's gotten far worse since the 70s/80s. This conflict is overdue and with Clinton there couldn't be a better face for all that is wrong with liberalism.
See this is what I'm afraid of, with a candidate like Donald dumpf on the right, there's virtually no leverage for the DNC to swing left for
"Beat" and "assault" are strong words for what happened in the video but that doesn't make what he did not kinda fucked up and unnecessary. She (the "victim") is also apparently censoring comments in on the article that point out a difference between the video and the piece she wrote.
As for the meeting, I can see why Sanders supporters would be upset because it doesn't seem like they had a voice from what the video shows, but how do the formats of these meetings generally work? Because it looks like the Cuomo nomination got a majority of the votes. I mean the article says "half" of the room was Bernie supporters but when the camera pans around it looks closer to 2/3rds clapping. If the process of choosing a delegate typically goes with them nominating the person who traditionally gets nominated then I can see why they didn't accept the motion to put someone else up who probably wouldn't have gotten the votes anyway.

I rewatched the video and the problem seems to be that they didn't acknowledge the motion, which was definitely a mistake. I don't think it would have changed the outcome but I can see how the people stumping for Sanders feel disenfranchised by not even having the chance.

the pdfs in tweet explain that this is the point of a contested convention. bernie still got 42% of the votes, so the point was for the DNC to at least listen to their side.
instead their mic got shut off without an explanation, and they were totally ignored

It's what happens when your party is so heavy handed with its approach to the primaries. Now you have some in the GOP wishing they had the same tactics
Governor Cuomo is a cunt, not surprised they nominated him as a delegate though.

Or maybe so inept and corrupt it gets away with silencing a half of its base with dirty tactics, last minute rule changes and physical confrontation.
But yeah sure, they just "fucked up".
