I love how people project their addiction issue onto companies and do drastic bullshit like this. It's not like it's your responsibility for your problems or anything.

Yeah, fuck Maplestory! Jokes aside, and while I don't believe in meritocracy, I wonder how much better the world would be if people stopped blaming others for the fact they're pathetic fuck-ups. You wouldn't have had assholes like Hitler and Trump, for starters.
Isn't MapleStory the national past time of canada
I don't know, but there was a period of five years or so where my brother played literally nothing else.
I'm amazed someone can bare to play a Nexon game let alone get addicted to it
Nexon of Korea has some great investments in their developers and games. Dungeon and Fighter makes huge money for them even today in Korea, China, and Japan despite being made more than 10 years ago. The quality of service and updates are far better outside of America becuase Nexon NA hardly makes any money off their games.I think it's a single digit of revenue.
I'm amazed someone can bare to play a Nexon game let alone get addicted to it
Played Maple Story a ton when I was in elementary school.

Not a bad game, either... The way epics work is kinda' garbage though.
fuck nexon

It's not like it's your responsibility for your problems or anything.
As someone who works closely with the Risk and compliance department in an online Gambling company I have to disagree. Psychological addictions like ones related to gaming/gambling, food etc. naturally impose blinkers in the sufferers mind that stop them from realising how irresponsible their activity is. Otherwise these sort of issues would be far less prevalent. The vast majority of accounts we close due to responsible gaming issues aren't people definitively self-excluding, but customers whose gameplay and activity we have analysed to be indicative of gambling addiction. I'm not saying what this man did was anyway in the right, I'm just saying that the main issue with these sort of addictions is that the person in question typically cannot see the forest for the trees. It's the reason Risk departments exist. Well that and money laundering

Neople had to report the drop rate percentages because of how spending money inadvertently allows you to try to get epics making it a gambling issue and it's something like 0.00001 % chance for something to drop.
