North Korea launches missile which may have landed within 200 miles off coast of Japan, says Shinzo
North Korea has fired a missile which may have landed in Japan's exclusive economic zone (EEZ), according to the country's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
The zone reaches 200 nautical miles from the country's coast.
Mr Abe has called an emergency meeting of the National Security Council.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said Japan "absolutely cannot tolerate" repeated provocations from North Korea, also known as the DPRK.
Soon after reports of the launch emerged from Japan, the Pentagon and South Korean military officials confirmed they detected a ballistic missile launch from North Korea.
It was not immediately clear what type of weapon was used, where it landed, and how far into the EEZ. It flew for around 45 minutes, according to Reuters, citing Japanese government officials.

might wanna hurry up and sign those sanctions then. 45 minute flight though is worrysome since that puts it on a pretty steep trajectory
at what point would action be taken? either against them directly or otherwise
because EVENTUALLY they WILL get lucky and hit something other than a very unlucky fish.
I believe we should start intercepting these launches on their downward path to target. Maybe the Norks would be a little more reluctant to conduct test fires within the area.
Considering these tests are landing in Japan's economic water areas, we should take it upon ourselves to shoot down any, if not all rockets that are within 20kms of entry.
With great luck I can find these comments

As usual deliberation will take some time, i do not expect action for another day.
I also do not like the "may have landed", it's bad journalism.
Aren't the coasts of Japan outfitted with interceptors? Sorry, I don't know much about that stuff lol

whether or not it did is irrelevant i think, the fact that it is an issue that abe had to call an emergency meeting with the security council makes it newsworthy however.

Yanks have a base in the North East I think.
Even when we apparently agreed with China to disarm NK of their nukes, they continue to threaten innocent lives with their "test launches". We can either take their nukes away, swaying any of NK's foreign backers to stay out or help, or force Kim Jong "Ugh" out of office. I mean they're doing this themselves. Why not let them crash and burn for it.
