One of Australia’s most evil serial killers is trying to recast herself as a reformed woman, but Catherine Birnie’s youngest son wishes she would “hurry up and die”. It’s been nearly three decades since Birnie was jailed, after she and her husband were arrested for abducting and killing four women. Their final victim Kate Moir managed to escape alive. In her time behind bars Catherine Birnie has attempted to recast herself as a harmless prison librarian, who even starred in a prison production of the musical comedy, Nunsense. While there are those who argue she’s served her time and should be released, her family strongly disagree, especially her youngest son Peter. ... But Peter firmly maintains he does not want his mother to be released from prison and supported the death penalty for her.
https://au.news.yahoo.com/a/34371369/hurry-up-and-die-quickly-son-of-serial-killer-catherine-birnie-says-she-should-die-in-prison/
Yeah, if any of my family members turned out to be a serial killer I think I'd have much the same response.
Can't imagine what it must be like to learn that your mother is a serial killer.
Pretty much straight up disowned by the family.
Honestly I think I'd feel the same way, like all the respect I had for that family member gets completely shit on and and any relationship I had with them is just, gone, like I wouldn't even want to be associated with them at that point.

This will follow the family for the rest of their lives and not because of name recognization alone. Could you imagine wishing your own mother to "Hurry up and die, quickly"?
“I never stopped loving any of you kids I am not proud of what has been said about me but I have to live that and the memories,” she wrote.
How can she say that honestly out loud when her decision to kill innocents has brought so much pain for her children
How can she say that honestly out loud when her decision to kill innocents has brought so much pain for her children
Doesn't matter what they do they'll always say that shit. I get plenty of messages like that from my (awful sociopath of a) biological father
How can she say that honestly out loud when her decision to kill innocents has brought so much pain for her children
Also note how she said "I am not proud of what has been said about me", rather than "what I have done".
Also note how she said "I am not proud of what has been said about me", rather than "what I have done".
Wow didn't even notice that when I first read it, like my mind filled in the blanks unable to comprehend someone being that unapologetically shit.
I can't really muster up a source for this, but as far as I know you can't really rehabilitate a serial killer, it has something to do with the psychology of becoming a serial killer or something.
This is very depressing no matter how I look at it. [editline]8th February 2017[/editline] Call your mother. Tell her you love her. [editline]d[/editline] I'm talking to you, person reading this post. Call your mom.
It's not that easy. This will follow the family for the rest of their lives and not because of name recognization alone. Could you imagine wishing your own mother to "Hurry up and die, quickly"?
Yeah, I could, if I found out she was a fucking serial killer
if killing four people doesn't give you a lifetime jail i don't know what does
Yeah, I could, if I found out she was a fucking serial killer
Easy to say that from the comfort of your own life.
Easy to say that from the comfort of your own life.
I live with really shit family members and I can also say it'd be very easy
Easy to say that from the comfort of your own life.
My entire family, from both sides, disowned my grandma's brother when he decided to scam her out of the house she had been living in for pretty much her entire life. Much later I learned all the horrible things he had done in the past. At least he died last year sick and alone. You gotta cross some serious lines to make your own family see you as the lowest kind of scum. And I reckon serial killers top that list.
