(CNN) -- A senior Somali militant who had a $5 million U.S. bounty on his head has been killed in infighting among members of the al Qaeda-aligned group Al-Shabaab, a spokesman for the group said Saturday. Ibrahim Al Afghani, a senior member of Al-Shabaab, was killed along with another top member, Moalim Burhan, in a shootout between two factions of the group June 20, spokesman Abu Musab said. Al Afghani was wanted for terrorism by the U.S. State Department, which offered a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to his location. A U.S. administration official said the United States believes the report of his death is true. It is the first time Al-Shabaab has confirmed the killing of two of its most senior members. The internal fighting in Al-Shabaab is between two groups, one loyal to founding member Ahmed Godane and another, smaller faction that supports foreign jihadists in Somalia. It began about a month ago when a member of the smaller group was targeted in a tea shop, allegedly by members from the other side.
http://www.cnn.com/2013/06/29/world/africa/somalia-militant-killed/index.html?hpt=hp_t2
well now al qaeda gets $$$ from the us by turning him in its fool proof plan!!
So does this mean some Somali terrorists resent that immigrants are going to Somalia and taking their jobs? Damn, people ARE the same everywhere.
Why is the US offering 5 million for Somali militants? Even if he's a top guy there's no point.
Getting terrorists to fight each other seems like the ideal plan to taking care of them. It's dirty, but in the end, if done right, they'd blame each other and nobody else.
So how do these bounties work? Can anybody go kill the guy and claim the reward? Has it ever happened with a average joe.
Yet another candle blown out and turned to gold for the greed of man. I'm against death penalty, and blood money is some of the most cynical and cold reason to kill a person. Not sure what I think of making "terrorists" fight each other, though. At least America doesn't get involved directly.

What's better, living in extremely volatile and dangerous conditions that is entailed with being part of a terrorist organization and accept presumably shit pay - or - secretly betray him by tipping US authorities of his location and subsequently cash in on the $5 million ensuring you and your family a guaranteed high-standard of living for generations to come, far away from that shithole.

Also since you're a terrorist, you get a one way ticket to Gitmo"
targeted in a tea shop? that's fucking rude
targeted in a tea shop? that's fucking rude
It's okay, it wasn't England
well now al qaeda gets $$$ from the us by turning him in its fool proof plan!!
I seem to remember this happening irl. Something about a dude who turned himself in to get reward money, does anyone else remember this?

The surest rebuttal to the notion that our work hasn't done anything to stop terrorism in the Middle East is the fact that the surviving groups are so splintered and factionalized that they're now doing our job for us.
And the US says to the militant that kills a bounty, "Thanks, here's your 5 mil. They want his location so you'd have to get in contact and engage in lengthy cooperation with the US.

Wow, I actually got an email from one of his relatives. They were trying to cash in the bounty but needed to use my account for it. I just need to give them my details and I can keep 75% LUCKY!!!
I seem to remember this happening irl. Something about a dude who turned himself in to get reward money, does anyone else remember this?
He turned himself in to get the reward money so he could get his family out of poverty.
-snip-
Now watch one of the militants step forward asking for the bounty money.
