Oh, I remember the mid 2000s. Could barely find any gaming video or AMV without Linkin Park. Good times.
I don't think there is any song in the world that can make runescape look good.
Then you add linkin park to the mix, and everything looks ridiculously funny

Any search of Halo would always return "Master Chief Tribute" videos that play Linkin Park to all the Halo 3 trailers edited together.
This is part of the reason I couldn't get into any mainstream music like Metallica, Limp Biskit or Green Day.
I think people hate Linkin Park because they are smug. They're talented, and that's what makes it more disappointing. Just watch any of their videos on youtube, and they have major boners for themselves. It's ridiculous. They're reaching out grabbing the air, jumping up-and-down, and swaying; all in an over-reactive, lame fashion. Imagine watching the videos as though you are at the film set (before everything is edited). I have nothing against homosexuals, but Linkin Park is super gay.

That's dumb. You think an artist should not be in to their own music? The more they enjoy playing their own music the better the finished project is going to be. Yeah they always seem "edgy" as hell with their weird as fuck videos with giant mutant whales flying through the sky while they beat the fuck out of a set of turntables inside of a pyramid (really). But that's just their creative personality. I doubt many people would know their name if they weren't they way they are.

what gave it away :v:
I actually legit like this music, I've just grown to not because back then you'd hear it 500 times per day even if you weren't specifically looking for it.
I don't hate linkin park but hating on them isn't really the point I was going for, it was just making fun of shitty amv's and linkin park is probably the best stereotype for it

I can only speak for myself, but I hate them because they create the aural equivalent of lukewarm tapwater in unflavoured oatmeal. Add that to the fact that their visual persona is two times edgier than Shadow The Hedgehog with a quarter of the emotional motivation, and it all adds up to something that's the bane of the very concept of creativity.
They make for a good laugh though these days.

linkin park hate is bandwagon, just like nickelback hate - there's nothing really wrong with these bands, they just unfortunately got vilified for no good reason because they entered meme status. it's pretty sad when this happens to bands with actually good albums like minutes to midnight and hybrid theory, especially when you have people as talented and artistically clever as mike shinoda. linkin park should honestly be remembered as the defining bands of the 2000s, they exemplified the angst and confusion of a post-9/11 world perfectly and served as the background music of a generation of confused and distressed teenagers, it would be a shame to see their music be remembered as nothing but a meme and a joke when it was so important to hundreds of pre-teens around the entire globe
hahaha just kidding nu-metal is literal cancer
people always shit on linkin park but their first album is really solid

quarter of the emotional motivation of shadow the hedgehog?
Crawling, their most infamous song is focused on Chester Benningtons own experiences with child abuse and the permanent scars it can leave.
One Step Closer was about his parent's divorce and social isolation in school
but nah, he just writes and performs for the moneys and the fame, right? definitely isn't an outlet or anything.
I don't care about the wellbeing of Chester Bennington. I really hope you're not implying this music is special because it's about sad moments in a guy's life. So what if it's an outlet? Is that supposed to convince me it's good? Is that supposed to convince me to like his voice? The rhythms? The Melodies?
Do you realize you're defending fucking Linkin Park?

I was countering the point you made that their music has no emotional drive behind it, why did you try to grasp anything other than that from my post considering I repeat your ignorant statement to show that it's what I'm debunking.
I'm not trying to convince you to like anything, just saying one of your reasons for hating on them is pulled straight out of your ass. Also your last sentence pretty much solidifies you're just hating on it because "hurhur memes crawling".
like do you realize my username is hybrid_theory, their debut album? (I'll be honest it's their only album I really like though except for a few singles here and there)
I hate Linkin Park because I hate Linkin Park. The memes just echo the feelings people have that are shared with mine. My opinion isn't fucking motivated by jokes. The jokes are motivated by the opinions. It's motivated by taste. You'd have to be a fool to believe that people dislike a band because of fucking memes. I can't actually break it down unfortunately because my technical knowledge of music is nebulous, but I'd actually be motivated to study it just to tear Linkin Park down.
Linkin Park is currently a joke. Their most recent accomplishments are making promo music for the fucking Transformers movies.

Hey now, don't leave out Meteora. That was the shit back in the day and I'd say it's held up pretty well.
Linkin Park first 2 albums are solid pieces of work and nobody can deny that is was the shit. After that though....
