[release]Somebody (Howard Stern, perhaps?) pulled a fast one on CNN's Ali Velshi today. During a report on the snow situation at Newark airport, Velshi turned to Gene Lasker, from the New Jersey Emergency Management, on the phone. Lasker began with normal-sounding updates before he advised everyone that "today is a day to just sit in your homes and contemplate Howard Stern on 'American Idol'." The CNN host guffawed, and producers can be heard laughing, but continued to ask questions of Lasker before the prankster cut it short: "You're a dumb ass. You don't know this is a prank call?" A good-natured Velshi took it in stride: "You got us, Gene. Very good."[/release] Source I was watching CNN when this happened. Just goes to show you why it isn't a good idea to pull your news directly off of the Internet and telephone calls.
I need to get a sound clip of "you're a dumbass"
Journalism at it's best
I like CNN more than Fox News, but hate how much they try to be youthful by using technology. They think they're the shit for having Twitter responses to every story.
No one can say this isn't news. Technically it is "In the News".

Some how I think CNN is going to get more people calling in to call them dumb asses after this.
I think it's to show that he's not right wing.
But his political ideals have nothing to do with this event. Someone prank called CNN, there's nothing political involved.

And the people who like Fox are mostly right wing.
He was bashing CNN somewhat but didn't want people to think it was because he's conservative.
Yeah but if you normally like Fox news, you are more likely to think the things channels like CNN do is stupid. And most right wing people like fox more than CNN.
Hm, I see your point. Personally, I hold no bias to any news source. CNN, Fox, MSNBC, I watch them all.
I love how you put that little quip on Fox News in there when it's completely irrelevant.
It is relevant, because I hate Fox News and I voice this whenever I can. CNN, Fox, MSNBC, I watch them all.
That is the best thing you can do. You should throw in BBC for a non-American point of view too.

oh ho ho. What a hilarious prank. I was laughing the whole way through. Oh ho ho oh.
Another Santa Claus sighting leaves hundreds mystified
Hahaha. He got pwned
"The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it."
I like that, who said it?
Some of the anchors on CNN are fucking awesome. Especially the guy in the video, he particularly doesn't bother dumbing it down, shame he only does the special reports and finances (I think).
I like that, who said it?
Google says Terry Pratchett, who is unfortunately dying of Alzheimer's.
I think it's to show that he's not right wing.
Nope, it shows that he's left wing. :downs: None of our news channels are devoid of bias. They all have it to some degree, with Fox to the right, MSNBC to the left, and CNN and the rest still significantly left-of-center. Claiming journalistic neutralism is such bullshit.
Thats pretty awesome. Good to see the news stations getting fucked over every now and again. Because I'm pretty tired of seeing the snowball fight story, come on we know its snowing.
I honestly like Cnn because they arn't a bunch of ignorant pricks and listen to only one side. i noticed this happening alot when watching fox news.
Rule Number one: Caller mentions Howard Stern, Hang up
