• Despite a 30% lead in New Jersey polls, Governor Chris Christie hits hard in the last debate before
In their final face-to-face meeting, New Jersey's candidates for governor held nothing back. The nationally known incumbent, Republican Chris Christie, and Democratic state Sen. Barbara Buono, traded personal and political barbs in a heated exchange three weeks before election day. The 90-minute debate was interrupted twice by audience members and featured dueling narratives. Christie described himself as a bipartisan governor with overwhelming public support who has brought New Jersey out of the depths of the recession. Buono, on the other hand, pitched herself as a fierce underdog who has fought for the working class all her career. Christie has an overwhelming majority in the polls. The latest numbers from Quinnipiac University put the Republican governor almost 30% ahead of Buono despite the state's history of leaning blue. "Governor Christie represents the worst combination of bully and boss-ism," Buono said, speaking again and again about what she called the "Boardwalk Empire of New Jersey bosses and backroom politics" that she charged Christie stood at the center of. Throughout the night, Christie was quick to fire back. "You want to start throwing stones tonight, you better get out of your glass house," he said. Buono didn't hit hard all night, however, knowing how popular the governor is on many issues. "I think the governor did a great job during Sandy and the aftermath," she said of his leadership during the hurricane last fall. She was quick to add, "I just wish that we could see that governor again."
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2013/10/16/in-final-fiery-debate-christie-hits-hard/?hpt=hp_t2
Him, Cuomo, and Bloomberg are some of the worst politicians.
Wow, it's a shame his blunt response to the gay marriage ruling isn't killing him.
I respect Christie for not being afraid to call out his fellow Republicans on bullshit. still a Republican thoguh
I respect Christie for not being afraid to call out his fellow Republicans on bullshit. still a Republican thoguh
you shouldn't dislike him because he's a republican you should dislike him because he's an asshole
you shouldn't dislike him because he's a republican you should dislike him because he's an asshole
I don't dislike him because he's a Republican it's just easier to say than "I disagree with his views which more or less fall in line with his party platform" Admittedly I don't know much about him being an asshole as I'm not from the Northeast area and don't really hear much about him, just stuff about calling out the NRA and criticizing Boehner for delaying Sandy appropriations.
The bipartisan bit is him looking ahead to 2016. He's really pretty bad.
If Chris Christie supported Gay Marriage I would vote for him. I liked the way he handled the boardwalk and the sandy aftermath. He did make NJ more stable again. I just cant stand that he could be so ignorant about equal rights for gays.
He did make NJ more stable again. I just cant stand that he could be so ignorant about equal rights for gays.
It seems like he's trying to appeal to both sides on the issue so he gives a little in favor of gay rights but also kind of opposes it.

All the established regularity buildings and groups down here in the pines barrens have been left to decay. He's done great on somethings I'll agree. But his scope isn't for all of NJ. It's only for the parts of NJ that the rest of the country focuses on.
you shouldn't dislike him because he's a republican you should dislike him because he's an asshole
9/10 times they aren't mutually exclusive.
woo buono
He slashes education and just about everything for nj, expect the same for the us if he does run
I'm a registered Democrat, but I'm genuinely torn here. I started out really not liking Christie, especially because of what he did to school budgets. I had felt that - having still been in high school at the time, classified with an IEP, and seeing "sped" facilities being among the first to go under the chopping block. That said, he's gained some major good guy cred since then, what with the Hurricane Sandy disaster and how he's not been afraid to go up against his own party to do the right thing. I'm not surprised he's got such a majority. Hell, Buono hasn't even been on my radar despite being my party's rep on paper. Politics aside, Christie has proven himself as a governor. So now it's between a Democrat that's probably more politically my style but otherwise unproven, and the - admittedly moderate - Republican who I've nonetheless seen in action and know to be effective in the seat. Values or reliability...
chris christie dominated that debate, imo. buono looked so stiff and rigid the entire time while christie was all relaxed.
