• Gender-Neutral Bathrooms Become Law in Philly
When Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter signed legislation Thursday to afford equal rights to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, he said he hoped Philadelphia would become “the most LGBT-friendly” city in the world. The legislation requires that new or renovated city-owned buildings include gender-neutral bathrooms in addition to traditional men's and women's restrooms. Nutter, city and state lawmakers and gay rights advocates said the legislation makes Philadelphia the first city in the U.S. to offer tax credits to companies that extend the same health care coverage to LGBT employees' domestic partners and their children as they provide to heterosexual spouses and their children.
http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/LGBT-Gender-Neutral-Restrooms-206932591.html Flushing is now the sound of progress.
this is pretty sweet
-snap-
Wait so they have to make 3 bathrooms? I was expecting them to just have gender neutral ones, but to have them along side male and female ones? Why not just let transgendered people use the bathrooms of their choice. Or just not legally enforce gender bathrooms.
So just like before then? Some bathrooms are separated and some are not?
I think we should just remove the signs. The cleanest bathroom is the one people will use, none of this gendered bathroom nonsense.
Political correctness is more comedic than anything nowadays

Remove gender bathrooms, and add an armed guard in each stall to make people feel secure. :v:
yeah who's going to actually use the third bathroom
People that are close to it?
Probably because they want to cater to people who feel like their privacy is being violated by transgenders in their bathroom as well as catering to transgenders.
Why bother catering to those idiots? It's another silly attempt to please everyone.
Probably because they want to cater to people who feel like their privacy is being violated by transgenders in their bathroom as well as catering to transgenders.
And what they end up doing is making a bathroom that will get a status as "trans-room" which will only help with even more segregation. Trans* people don't want to be "special" they want to have the opportunity to be the gender they actually are. I'd say just remove the signs completely, and if you're uncomfortable use a stall.

My pepper spray and taser is here to make sure you can poop in peace. If anyone makes a comment about the unnaturally loud sound or the ungodly, seizure-inducing smell, I will protect you."
One large bathroom with only cubicles and CCTV outside a loo with panic buttons inside maybe?
what the actual fuck and i LIVE in philly
When Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter signed legislation Thursday to afford equal rights to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, he said he hoped Philadelphia would become “the most LGBT-friendly” city in the world.
:suicide:
Unisex bathrooms already exist so I don't really see how this changes anything besides "well now you HAVE to have those"
Oh fuck no. No, no no; no. Nope! Not gonna share bathrooms with women. Nope. Lemme tell you a little story. It was at my written English high school exam. You know how they take it all serious and you have to have a guard with you to stand by the bathroom to make sure you're not cheating when you're taking a piss, right? Well. I had to take a piss. I put my hand up, I had my guard assigned, we went to the hall, and-... All the men's rooms were taken. No biggie, I thought. I took one of the ladies' rooms. They're no different, right? There's a toilet for peeing, a sink for washing hands, paper to wipe, and two trashcans, one with a clamping lid. So I go there. I yank the Lil'Rill out, do the deed, wash my hands, wipe them clean, take a deep, refreshing breath.. And there's something in the air. Some sort of... Smell. Faint, yet clearly there. I toss my tissues in the trashcan designated for tissues, and then as I reach for the door. I notice the other trash can. "Huh. I don't think those are in the mens' rooms after all.." I step closer. The faint smell is stronger. I push on the clamp to open it. Used. Tampons. A whole fuckin' bag of used. Fucking. Tampons. We're not talking like, freezer-bag-to-save-a-single-serving-of-rice here. We're talking a family shopping bag. Of cotton and period blood. No. I will not stand for this. I will not live in a world of unisex bathrooms. NEVER AGAIN.
i thought this was just about removing gender seperated bathrooms, but it's actually something much worse. same kind of logic as racial segregation. let's make seperate bathrooms for black people so they can feel included, but so some white people won't feel offended when they use the same ones as them massively polarizing comparison, but it's what i feel is a lazy attempt at making people 'feel' included rather than actually including them in equal rights
Unisex bathrooms already exist so I don't really see how this changes anything besides "well now you HAVE to have those"
There's one in the GLBTQXYZAPPLESAUCE dance club I love. Huge bathroom, tons of stalls, super clean. Line wasn't too bad. I think this is a potentially good idea, but just include one large bathroom instead of three. It would probably cut on cleaning costs, not sure about water or electricity use.
Unisex bathrooms already exist so I don't really see how this changes anything besides "well now you HAVE to have those"
why not just get rid of the gender separated bathrooms and have one big unisex bathroom? it would be cheaper, easier to clean, less discriminating, and less hassle creating in general

It's a perfectly natural, biological event that girls and women can't control.
Also, women take forever to take a god damn piss. Like, holy fucking shit. Yank your dick out, take the piss, wash hands, walk out. Why do you have to take five minutes to do that? I don't want no fucking super-long lines on my fucking bathrooms, no sir-ee!
Wait so they have to make 3 bathrooms? I was expecting them to just have gender neutral ones, but to have them along side male and female ones? E.g. by your logic I could claim to identify as female and go for a quick perving; vice-versa
Phew, at least most women will never see a urinal.
Here, let me just google image urinals. I went to a party once at my old college, and had to go in the 'male' restroom. Didn't phase me. The drunk guy using it kind of embarrassed me, but nothing else.
Could have the bathrooms be sex based if you have dick go here if you don't have dick go here
Could have the bathrooms be sex based if you have dick go here if you don't have dick go here
seperated bathrooms aren't all that different. western toilets are unisex, remember? that would be an even bigger waste of time. who's going to be there to inspect if you have a penis or not?
