At an event in San Francisco today, Marvel discussed the company's future plans in the video game space, announcing a partnership with Telltale Games.
The first of those games will come to consoles in 2017, Marvel executives said. Marvel did not disclose the name of the game or which properties Telltale might be developing games with.
Marvel's Peter Phillips, executive vice president and general manager for interactive and digital distribution, and Jay Ong, vice president of games, were joined by Marvel Games creative director Bill Roseman and executive producer Mike Jones to discuss the entertainment giant's future video games.
According to Roseman, the company's future Marvel games will strive for authenticity, will feel "exquisite" and "sexy," and will be celebrated by Marvel fans. Roseman said the games will look "eye-popping" and feel well-built and hand-crafted.
Literally comic-book come to life.
Captain America will remember this.

Squirrel-Girl noticed that.
Wonder what series from Marvel they'll do. I could see them doing a Deadpool game. Especially with a Deadpool movie coming. Would be awesome if they did.

A self-aware Deadpool point-n-click game would be fantastic.

Isn't this like, most telltale games though?
Considering the Wolf Among Us; I'm definitely okay with this
Just imagine the Wolf Among Us inky, comic art style being used on Marvel franchises...

Telltale games is like the local prostitute. They go to everyone.
Except, most of the time it's not a bad thing<3
jesus christ cut it out
it feels like every other week they announce they're working on a new property and then cancel another a few weeks later, i want to see more shit like puzzle agent, poker night, and sam & max and less twd reskinned, you know?
admittedly a marvel universe point and click has a really solid appeal to it but i'll be really surprised if it strays from the cheap emotional sucker punch shit and full-on railroading they've been doing since walking dead became a smash hit
cancel another a few weeks later
What have they canceled?
What have they canceled?
king's quest.
activision recovered the rights and it got cancelled.
What have they canceled?
They only ever cancelled a King's Quest title, which was announced back with Walking Dead Season 1 and Wolf Among Us in Feburary 2011. Beyond that, they have not cancelled anything - however, they've also yet to follow up on games with Cliffhanger endings such as Tales of Monkey Island or Back to the Future.

Oh god, I could totally see them doing this too. I wonder if they'll do a full comic style, with comic speech bubbles too. That would be awesome as fuck.
Sam and Max meet Groot and Rocket Raccoon
They just released one a little few years ago
Are you talking about the Deadpool game from Activision? I guess that's true, one came out a little bit ago. But that game wasn't good at all. Would rather have a more story driven comic-book style game for Deadpool, or any Marvel game to be honest. Besides Spider-Man.
They just released one a little few years ago
That game was shit, it was based off the Daniel Way Deadpool, which was all lol chimichanga, randumb deadpool. Other deadpool comics are a milion times better than that shit.
Thread title translated: More excuses not to do Sam and Max Season 4
Poker night 3 with iron man
Poker night 3 with iron man
Deadpool would be a much better Poker Night character. :v:
Man, people are going to get tired of the Telltale formula if they let it get stale. At the very least they're due for a technical overhaul.
Literally comic-book come to life.
This absolutely perfect because the episodic medium of adventure games is kind of like getting a comic book each month except it's a Choose Your Own Adventure.
king's quest.

So they didn't really cancel it, it was more they were unable to actually make it.
Sam and Max meet Groot and Rocket Raccoon
Great idea, too bad they don't do Sam & Max anymore.
We need Telltale to sort out all the glitches in the engine they use and then we need a fucking Deadpool game.
Seriously, the possibilities are endless.
I reckon something following the Punisher would work.
king's quest.

The way you originally wrote your first post made it seem like they cancelled it because they wanted to or because they were making too many games.
That's kinda outa their control? Plus I think there's more demand for a Marvel point and click, rather than another boring game like Poker Night at the Inventory, which grew quickly boring after the second or third game and after you heard most of the jokes.
How do you think they will handle this?
Play as a superhero or human?

Poker Night 3 with 4 Groots
