Oh god damn it...
Doesn't that create some sort of geometry overload?
oh jesus
Holy shit.
my god i don't even know how to use Hammer and i know this is a piece of shit
Uhhhhhhhh... Why would you do this?
How it didn't crashed ?
It crashed at the end.
Advanced carving this is the future :downs:
This has to be a troll video.
lol carve tool
oh my god I remember this video it's hilarious [editline]05:01PM[/editline] I wonder what happens if he tries to compile the map
no one can lack that amount of IQ, has to be a troll video
How can you be so stupid? ughh It's funny how he's trying to be 'pro' by writing these annotations, like giving tips.
Isn't he aware of displacements on 256*256*8 blocks?
This is why people cannot learn how to do anything in Hammer from youtube. People like me :frown:
Why is everyone rating late? Was ths posted before? Are you trying to look cool because you found out the video date is old? :eng99:
ITT: Me and a lot of other non mappers are confused.
ITT: Me and a lot of other non mappers are confused.
To sum it up. Maps use brushes to create the terrain and the buildings and stuff. Though to many brushes and the game lags to hell. Carve would be a great tool if it didn't have 1 downside. It creates so many brushes. And looking at how mush this guy used it, I thought Hammer would have crashed sooner.
Probably the best horror video on YouTube. Never been so terrified in my life.
carve would be a great tool if it was removed
Oh god NO! THAT IS WRONG! YOU DON'T USE CARVE LIKE THAT! FFFFFFFFFF-
I bet he has never heard DISPLACEMENTS AND TEXTURE ALIGNMENT OR VERTEX TOOL

So you're saying that carve is kind of like "the easy way out" and makes ease of something that'd normally be really time consuming but uses an incredible amount to accomplish?
As soon as he did the first carve, I died a little inside.
Let me try to do this and then compile the map. I'll film the resolute! Edit: compiling (it will probably take ages if it even does compile) Edit: ITS A MIRACLE IT COMPILED! /caps Edit: Quick picture before the video is uploaded to youtube Edit: Going to bed I'll link you to the video tomorrow stay tuned!
"I will be releasing my first hammer map using carve after I fix a leak error." hahahahahaha
" u ned a gud compuer 2 us hamar caus it cras alot"

Carve is never the easy way out. Carve could be used a beginners tool, but that's it. It's usually crushed in every tutorial that mentions it. If you want to carve a doorway, you're still better off with the clip tool, takes about the same amount of time but will not give you the kind of errors carve might give you if it touches another brush. Carve will cut through anything it touches (brushes). Making terrain is 10x easier with displacement tool and will produce a much more cleaner, optimized and better looking result. Don't use carve.
