euch, the pricing plan of the first pissed people off enough. the reaction to them deciding to release a second season pass should be interesting.
im curious as to whether or not their first season pass was an intentional mislead. it was called 'hunting season pass', but people quickly pointed out that you got very little for actually getting it and there was no mention of any other dlcs, turns out they intend it to be called 'hunting season' pass, which is apparently different. game was OK, but pricing + dlc controversy + releasing with many game breaking bugs/crashes that were present in beta and not fixing them even months after release killed it. our group of 4 couldnt go 2 matches without someone crashing mid round or something with the game completely screwing up.
this game was such a horribly mismanaged flop its almost unreal.
I'm sure all 1000 active players will be thrilled they get to spend the price of the base game all over again.
I fucking hate this piece of shit game and I hate myself for buying it.
If I had a disc version, I'd break it into pieces and insert each shard into the rectums of the heads of 2k.
And they wonder why no one plays their game
I'm just fascinated by the fact that this is at all profitable, or maybe it's just that someone thinks it is. It's entirely evident that they have absolutely zero intent on supporting the game for long. It's pure milking for fast cash now.
The game is a buggy clusterfuck. Few people are going to be willing to spend more money on this pile of shit. Fracturing an already tiny playerbase between those having and not having the DLC is just going to make more people quit, which makes fewer new players come in. Thus the death of a game is signed.
Then there's the people like me who don't touch games till after a pack with (nearly) everything is available, and stuff like this on top of an already killed playerbase just makes us pass over it entirely on the way to greener pastures.
Turtle Rock is definitely on my personal shitlist now. Don't think I'll be spending a cent on anything they even tangentially touch in the future. They've amply demonstrated that they do not give a single fuck about bugfixes, balance, long term playability, or much of anything really. The game wasn't even that good to begin with, and turned into one of the biggest AAA jokes of the past year, Given the recent shenanigans with Watch Dogs, Unity, etc, that is one hell of an impressive accomplishment.
Expect the pricing and DLC bundles are by 2K Games
As of right now, the PC version is dead, it doesn't even break the top 90 on steam, meaning it has less than 1k players right now.

peaks at about 600 daily.
I kinda find Evolve to be kinda sad.
Turtle Rock Studios made a game, then 2K Games saw it as a cash grab (because of the success of L4D) and bought it from THQ when they were going bankrupt.
It has ruined the reputation of TRS all because of 2K's greediness
I feel bad for these devs who put all the work into making content for this game that's been fucked by it's bullshit price gouging.

It's profitable because the Xbone player base keeps it alive; when 2K barks, they spend money, and until a couple months from now there's very little competition in the Xbone playspace unless you enjoy playing old versions of Halo for weeks on end to get those achievements all over again.
Pretty sure when HV hits the market in totality this game is toast.

TRS has defended 2K at every step.
I still stand by my opinion that the game itself is decent, the prices for everything about it that affect gameplay are just outrageous, including the base game. I really hope that those rumors of Evolve 2 being in development are not true because they want to add in a Campaign. I hope that for TRS' sake, they'd be snakes since they said they wanted this to be the game you come back to once in a while.
This just makes me sad because I love this game. I just can't condone this, I haven't since launch. I stand by the fact that this game just shouldn't cost 60$ or 7.49$ a character or 15$ a monster. While I do not believe this game should adopt a F2P model, I think that'd be it's only chance to keep going. Reducing prices across the board and adding more hunters more often, what is really killing this game is the steep learning curve and lack of proper monster randomization. Fighting the SAME guy over and over and over just gets old. I don't know why they are afraid of letting parties fight within themselves, "Boosting tho." Yeah no not really it doesn't matter any more after getting a rank 3/Level 40.
I just don't think this game works as a full priced game, it will never because this just isn't enough to keep people going. It's too much money for such a small game, both in scope and game length. I wanted to keep going. Too big an investment in a game that already has a huge dip in players. All the content is moot if there's no one to fight or play against.
If they are planning on making a campaign or co-op story mode of some sort, I just hope they put it in preferably for FREE in THIS game. Otherwise good night princess I loved ya while you were here, too bad all you wanted from me was my money.
It's absolutely a solid, if hilariously imbalanced game.
It's also absurdly overpriced.

Too be fair Maxis defended EA at every step right up until the point that EA closed Maxis for not making enough money from Sim City.
Valve must have poached the top members from Turtle Rock and the scraps were left to make games like this :v:

most people from TRS who merged with Valve ended up leaving Valve due to the different company formats.

Honestly, the game itself is fine. Perhaps the gameplay loop gets old, but so did L4D's so there's no surprise there. I mean it feels good and is fun to play, controls well, and it's visually impressive.
It's the monetization and DLC pricing that shot it in the foot.

Though that doesn't mean that they went back to TRS.
I still can't get over how badly this game fucked itself right out the door.
The beta was added to my Steam library automatically, and I consciously decided not only to leave it uninstalled but also hide the thing itself under a tab specifically for stuff I never want to see again. That was because I did the math and realized that if I wound up loving the game I would be the type of person who must buy all of the gameplay content, which I physically did not have the spare amount of funds for. I literally could not afford to give Evolve a chance.
Its good this game was a complete flop, maybe that will show other devs that this bullshit isn't going to work

Publishers, not developers (unless self-published, which Evolve was not)
Like, the game was super fucking fun, and was really interesting.
If the "season asses" that they were making were just included with the game, and the total price dropped to, say, $30, I'm sure it'd still be alive. Cosmetics be damned
I saw that they were asking $30 dollars for it at its lowest during the sale.
Am I the only one here who thinks that the game is a $20 experience at best?
It saddens me because I was very hyped for this game, preordered it like 10 moths before it came out and then flop. The game is fun, but the overpriced dlc just ruined it. Thanks 2k, you sure know how to handle games.
I was gonna say a joke about how this game 'Evolved' into a huge steaming pile of shit, but it was evident this game was fucking garbage the moment it was announced.

I'd say it reversed evolved. Went from a great thing, slowly devolved and turned INTO a pile of shit.
I actually like the game a lot and tend to come back with my friend and play some rounds.
One of the major problems I have with it is the fact that you can't play monster vs friends unless you have a whole team of 5 premade players.
Another is balance and then ofcourse the DLC price.
Maybe this will be a good game when I can get the GOTY edition with all 50 season asses and DLC and shit for like 90% off some steam sale down the line.
