It took me a while, but it finally happened. I now agree our government is bullshit. A bill that would give health care to 9/11 first responders with illnesses directly related to 9/11 was NOT passed in Congress despite a majority vote. The reason? "They went in there to save survivors not raise taxes". Why didn't it pass despite a majority? The Democrats used a procedure that made the bill require a 2/3rds vote to pass. Why would they make it harder? Some stupid bullshit, that's why. Sure, it would cost a lot, but it's waaaaay less expensive than all the shit Obama has been doing. The Bill - http://thehill.com/blogs/healthwatch/worker-safety/111375-health-bill-for-911-first-responders-gets-floor-vote-despite-cost-concerns The Bill not being passed - http://www.ktradionetwork.com/government/911-first-responders-bill-fails-in-house/ A summary of everything - http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/wed-august-4-2010/i-give-up---9-11-responders-bill?xrs=share_fb
End the war.
Ugh, Politics bore me
So you hate your government because one small thing pissed you off, or is it more like this, your dad raged about it, and because you can't think for yourself, you just say what he says? Either way, i don't know what i just said.

Of course the first responders could've worn masks that would have avoided this problem in the first place.
Everyone knows that helping other people is socialism and socialism is evil.
And we all know socialism is for commies and Obama. :patriot:
Needs less political parties
And we all know socialism is for commies and Obama. :patriot:
The Democrats enforced a 2/3 majority, according to OP.
Because that's democracy? Resigning to total hatred of your own government over one thing is selfish and solves nothing.
No, most bills only require a majority vote, which at this time would be 218 Yes votes. The bill got 255 Yes votes.
And we all know socialism is for commies and Obama. :patriot:
Obama is a nazi, socialist, facist, commie scumbag
Wow, that's bullshit. I would pay higher taxes if it meant that they would get medical care, and I'm sure most people I know would. On the topic of losing faith in the American government, I lost faith shortly after watching Zeitgeist: The Movie. Although it's mostly conspiracy theory bullshit, it's totally plausible in places and I wouldn't put it past our government. I highly recommend this film. Definitely worth a watch.
We all know that capitalism is shit so get over it
Of course the first responders could've worn masks that would have avoided this problem in the first place.
I'm sure that wasn't really at the top of their list of priorities at the time...

Unless I'm mistaken it would've required a 2/3rds majority vote to pass regardless, just a majority ensures nothing.

This is the government in the nutshell for you.
The government is there to govern and control, not to make you or anyone else happy. Yeah, they fuck up - I don't see you doing anything about it though.
I get the impression that, most governments today, are bullshit. It's all about the money..
Yep and nobody does anything about it
Who cares we're all gonna die anyway.
Alright, I posted in this thread now my post is gone. What the hell? This was what it said: You know why it didn't pass? Because if it did they'd have to give free healthcare to everyone that got sick or injured in some kind of disaster. And if you did that you may as well just give healthcare to everyone. And if you do that, republicans bitch. Well, republicans bitch either way but still.

If you've lost faith in it why don't you do something about it rather than complaining on a website on how you've lost faith.
End the war.
Give me your avatar's source.
'sup, am I too late to say "FUCK TEH STATE!!!1!!" Anyway, it's not the smartest of all remarques, I guess, but let me simply say that, having faith in something or someone, simply means that you decide the rest is unworthy of your faith. So yeah, it's good that you doubt the govt', welcome to the polittcal incorrectness.
Okay. I agree with OP, first off. Second, we are NOT a democracy. We are a Representative Republic at that level. We vote for people, who we think think like we do, and they make decisions for us. Just putting that out there.
