Korean military used video game clips(BF3 and Ace combat) to sell real fighter jets
South Korea proudly showed off footage of its top-of-the-line Kai KF-X fighter jet in 2015; the culmination of over 14 years of work. Unfortunately, a year and a bit later, Korea Times discovered that footage used to show off the fighter's impressive performance actually came from old video games. Whoops.
Adding insult to injury, the paper reports that producing the plagiarized clip cost around $40,000 in taxpayer money. South Korea's military was quick to acknowledge that the footage (taken from Battlefield 3 and Ace Combat: Assault Horizon) wasn't authorized and has agreed to cease using the clips.
In a bid to avoid national embarrassment, everyone involved is predictably blaming one other. While the military pointed the finger at the company that made the video, amazingly the video producers were quick to hedge their bets, claiming that both the Agency for Defence Development and Korea Aerospace Industries, stating that both companies had a final say.
Nobody's gonna talk about the fucking pirates of the caribbean music?
To be fair, Ace Combat made me want to buy military jet planes too.
I mean it sounds pretty cool. Probably should've bought the rights first though.
Reminds me of that time the Chinese government used footage from Top Gun for one of there video's.

The first song is from CoD:MW1 and most of the songs after the caribbean music are from MW3
I think the Koreas are ready for reunification
They have finally found some common ground
Didn't the Norks do something similar with video game footage and POTC music?
It's pretty obvious that it's just recorded media from games/CGI though, I don't see what the big deal is. It's just fluff they used to hype up the video.
oh my god, they not just used pirates of caribbean, but also soundtrack from call of duty
i watched this before and thought it was some fan made shit
is this real life?
They're selling a $50M aircraft, and you can see the noticable framerate drops on higher poly items(like the cut away view). You can see missing faces at the cockpit view. lol. $50m aircraft, $0 for production.
This stuff is really meant to get the point across of what the aircraft does, it doesn't need fancy next-gen graphics

Dumb that they used game footage but it's cheaper than getting someone to make it, and it gets the job done pretty well for sales reps
Don't know why you would want the Jets from Battlefield 3, they don't even come equipped with flares!

This is probably why Boeing and Lockheed and all them are okay with their planes being in those games :v:

It's probably illegal and definitely a dick move to use media somebody else used money to produce in their commercial publication.
S-Korean govt definitely affords to hire the necessary graphic designers for the work so it's embarrassing as well.
It seems the work was outsourced to an however.

Outsourced to someone who was still using their Pentium 3 with a 440MX to render these images? If this was 2001 this might be passible.

They have a massive music industry, just slap some kpop on there.
Like Intel did for what I assume was a processor launch or something.
Where's the BF3 footage in video?
