"Keanu Reeves said he had met the Wachowski's (no emphasis on the word brothers), for lunch over Christmas and stated that they had completed work on a two picture script treatment that would see him return to the world of the matrix as Neo. Says the brothers have met with Jim Cameron to discuss the pro's and con's of 3D and are looking to deliver something which has never been seen again. keanu stated that he still has an obligation to the fans to deliver a movie worthy of the title "The Matrix" and he swears this time that the treatment will truly revolutionise the action genre like the first movie.
Tbh I'm thrilled, I just don't know how they can continue from the ending [sp] (Neo being dead and all that). [/sp] And 3D?
I'd prefer more if it followed a different character or something, but if they say it will be like first one, we'll see.
Sounds interesting.. although I hope they don't just dick it up like I feel they will.
Ehhh. Even though the sequels were terrible, I still liked them in a guilty way. I wouldn't really be sorry if they made the movies.
I mean, what is there to cock up at this point?
Sounds interesting
no much left but the real world
I thought [sp]neo died at the end what[/sp].
It better follow completely new characters and just have a few of the old characters in a few brief scenes.
Actually kinda wanted this. :3:
Lets just hope this won't be another Alien Resurrection.
When I first watched the 2 sequels, at the time I thought the same as everyone else; that they have good action scenes but generally shitty otherwise. But I watched them more recently and I have to say I enjoyed them a hell of a lot more. They're not up to the same standard as the first, but still very interesting films.
I kind of want the happy ending, where people are freed and a massive war bethween the humans and the machines, however..
An ending where the people inside the matrix, all find out it's not real, and end up fighting in classic matrix style till they overloading and crash the main computer, that would also be epic.
Second Renaissance Parts 1 and 2
Live action
I WANT TO BELIEVE
I won't get my hopes up until I see some real announcements.
but [sp]everybody died[/sp]
Say what you want about the Matrix Reloaded, but fighting 100 Agent Smiths at once is one of the coolest scenes in a movie ever.
How in the actual fuck can the story continue? It would need to either be set inbetween two of the existing movies (which would make it terrible as we all know how it ends) or be set at least one generation after the last [sp]in a new iteration of the matrix, basically meaning it will be a retread of the original trilogy of movies[/sp]. Either way they're gonna have to pull some spectacular tricks out of their sleeves to pull this off.
I dunno what they could do with the storyline if it comes afterwards. I hope they take it in a different philosophical direction, because that's what really Matrix really did for me. But I don't know if they could really revolutionise the genre by using the old brain-in-a-vat thought experiment again...
Am I the only one who thought they should've left the first film well the fuck alone?
The sequels were terrible. The only thing that doesn't make it blindingly obvious that they are terribly shit films is a ridiculous budget to splurge on effects.
I don't get the hate for reloaded, I liked reloaded just as much as the first.
I liked all three, looks like there's a gigantic bandwagon around the sequels. If the same guys are making them then then i'm sure the movie will be alright.
I loved the second movie.

yeah. different, but just as good. or almost as good. one of those.
number 1 was was the best, then everything went to shit

I loved both sequels, they were great action movies, and the Juno Reactor soundtrack was superb in Reloaded. I think the bandwagon hate comes because the first Matrix film was more deep and had some philosophical methafors, while the sequels are just pure action flicks.
This is easily the worst film news I've heard in the past 2 years.
The other sequels were bad enough and completely unnecessary.
Unless the intention is to have Keanu wake up and realise the 2nd & 3rd films (+ game & cartoon tie-ins) were in fact a horrible dream, I'm honestly not sure where they can go with this. I mean Jesus, in terms of fan good will, the Wachowskis (man, and blind date gone terribly wrong) really blew it big time. Also I'm not sure how much more of people stood around wearing sunglasses giving their best "Blue Steel" look in inappropriate locations I can put up with. There's a time and place for sunglasses, and it generally involves sunny conditions, not dank dark cellars, or nightclubs.

"Unfortunately no one can be told what the matrix is, you have to see it for yourself."

hmm, could be okay
yknow, i actually enjoyed the two sequels. i know they werent great movies, but i still liked em. not nearly as good as the first, of course
For everyone saying [sp]Neo died at the end,[/sp] just remember that he was essentially a Christ figure, resurrection isn't out of the realms of possibility.
Can't say I'm not excited about it, I loved all 3 movies; 1st one gave me a lot to think about, and the 2nd ones a fuckload of action.

Now that you mention it, that'd be a decent twist...

Fuck me senseless, here we go again:
Hurr durr there's a commonly shared opinion, it must be bandwagon effect
