I'm doing a paper for my writing class. I am writing about a place I would like to vacation too, so I've decided that Norway seems like a very interesting country to write about visiting.
Of course I am doing my own research and I'm not asking any of you to do my homework.
I just figured I would get better information from someone who actually lives there. It would just be nice to know about popular tourist attractions, place to go, cities to see (Norway is fucking beautiful).
Thanks
How long is this paper going to be?
Only 2-4 pages, not very long.
If you want to entertain your reader, you should probably write about the norwegian viking history, and maybe talk about the Romanticism in Norway. Maybe even write a bit about the democracy in Norway
Depends on where you are going to stay. Oslo have ski related attractions. You can also include the memorial for 22. July which happened. It's not really a vacation spot, but a place you could check out in your text.
You can be in the south part of the country, where there are a well known Zoo called Kristiansand Zoo. The south also includes good cabins that you could rent and live, describing how the vacation is with fishing, bathing and more.
There is also the west coast with Stavanger, the oil capital of Norway, and the Ryfylke with fjords and good landscape for hiking and skiing. You can go even more north to Bergen, another town with much music culture.
Trondheim is also a cultural city with a great church and other cultural sculptures and statues.
Hope I helped you out. PM me if you need more help.
I live in Østfold (the little "thumb" of the mitt that Norway kinda looks like) and there is literally nothing pretty around here as far as I can tell.
If you want to shock people who don't already know, you can talk about the gas prices.
Onto the more serious side there is one place in Norway I want to go to and that is Trollstigen.

You can say that you drove on that road if you're pretending to have been in the western parts of Norway.

One more thing.
When you're in a foreign country you might learn a little of the language and this is what you'll most likely learn first:
"Jeg heter (your name), og jeg kommer fra Amerika"
which means:
"My name is (whatever), and I am from America"
Good thing you guys went the serious route, that means I can talk about the true Trøndelag and bring out the guns and moonshine. Not really though. As far as I know Trøndelag is the most Redneck-like area of Norway, but then again, our gun laws are so strict, that the only open carry that's allowed is for defence against polar bears! This only applies to the "island" Svalbard, it's pretty huge, had lots of coal, now it's enviromental research, polar bears and sightseeing.

So, I'm a redneck then?
You hear that? Y'all should watch yerself before I bring forth lil' Annabelle here, ya hear?
I'm from the eastern edge of Oslo. Stereotypically, I should be a lower middle class immigrant gang banger.
South-West Norway. Stereotypically I should be a rich and successful oil rig worker.

Hi dad :v:
East-Oslo, and I sort of fit a bunch of the stereotypes, being left-oriented and sort of radical and stuff.
You may want to mention the sames (samene), they're to us what the indians are to you guys, except with snow and reindeer and shit.
the sames (samene)
...wat
The Sami people, also spelled Sámi or Saami
I didn't know what they're called in English, okay?
It's also more fun to call them the sames. Sounds a bit like a band, like The Who.
What are you traditions for graduation from High School or College.
Graduation from HS is basically parting at getting wasted from the 1st of May to the 17th (our national day). Most of us wear red or blu pants and call ourselves "Russ". We receive russ knots (items) by doing different tasks. Like sitting under your desk during class, kissing a police officer, having sex in a tree, abducting a freshman, running naked through a school yard, drinking a beer with two tampons in your mouth and so on.

I believe that the Russ partying from High School starts the 17. April, one month before 17.May. (The "take a dive before 1.may" task)
