Afghanistan's election commission has fired 5,338 of its staff over alleged fraud in the first round of presidential elections last month.
Those sacked will be barred from working on the second round next month, commission officials said.
Both the leading candidates have made allegations of fraud.
Millions of Afghans defied Taliban threats to take part in the election. Turnout was double that of the previous election in 2009.
Former Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah won the most votes in the first round, with 44.9%. Ex-Finance Minister Ashraf Ghani came second with 31.5%.
Most of those dismissed were district field co-ordinators who were responsible for polling centres on election day, says the BBC's Bilal Sarwary in Kabul.
Feels like to me the Taliban influence is slowly dying and with that in mind the Taliban organisation could slowly be dissolving

Perhaps our militaries handing it to them for a while gave the Afghan people confidence that the Taliban isn't untouchable. They may feel like there's a safe alternative to their Islamic totalitarian government. At least, I'd like to hope we had some lasting effect.
With everything going on there it's hard to know if this is actual weeding out of corruption, or just one corrupt group cutting off another corrupt groups hold on the system. Still, I hope that this is good for the people there, they certainly need a break from the cycle of corruption and violence.

We could go with the standard Muhammad, giving us AMA, which allows him to do AMAs on reddit and branch out his appeals to the huge crowd of Afghan redditors.

Fred.
Until he became a government minister, Abdullah had only a first name; demands from Western newspaper editors for a family name led him to adopt the full name Abdullah Abdullah.
Can we demand a middle name then?
Send Garry as an envoy, bribe him with a copy of Rust, I'm sure he'll understand.
