Using a lighter to kill the bug, he started a blaze that quickly engulfed the gas pump.
He somehow escaped serious injury and the gas station's damage was contained to one pump, which was destroyed. The incident was recorded at a Center Line gas station.
Employee Susan Adams kept calm and hit the gas automatic stop button and quickly called the Center Line fire department.
The man grabbed a nearby extinguisher and put out the flames before firefighters arrived. Later he admitted what he did, saying he spotted a spider on his gas tank and because he's deathly afraid of the critters.

How could you possibly think fire near gasoline is a safe method of killing bugs?
This man is a genius.
I dunno about anyone else, but I saw the picture and started laughing like a moron.
but did he get the spider.?
I see nothing wrong, this seems like a reasonable response when it comes to dealing with spiders.
This is like directly from some comedy flick.

If anything, I applaude him for not being bitten by the spider.

I don't blame the guy, he wanted that spider so bad it was like acid in his mouth.
You'd honestly be surprised how many people are just DEATHLY afraid of them to the point that they reduce themselves to basic survival instincts just to kill one.
My grandma hated them so much she'd just curl up, scream, and cry a little... And that was just over a picture of one.

This is the only thing that really matters in this story.
Did he not realize that "kill it with fire" is just a joke?
this sounds like it would fit on the onion

If you're a big girly, perhaps. :smug:
Does Detroit have a giant spider problem?
At least he made sure to be thorough.
As an American i can confirm people are always lighting cigs at pumps. I'm surprised more stations don't go up I'm flames

Did you just compare lighting a cigarette to using aerosol to fuckin torch a spider

I think its really the only appropriate method.

Oh no, the relationship with fire is in our genes like cats on the prowl.
How is a burning spider any better?

yes because you shouldn't light anything at a gas station
When "kill it with fire" gets taken too seriously
yes because you shouldn't light anything at a gas station
No shit, but it's one thing to light a cigarette and another to spray a jet stream of fire towards your gas tank
