It's weird how different our culture (or whatever) in Sweden is actually pretty different from the American culture aswell.
It's a fascinating world we live in.
You should watch the whole document about it. It is quite interesting

Want to see the full thing, i'm sure there will be more than these clips shown on wimp.
I love how welcoming their people are; you can go in at a random person's house anytime in Sudan and the owner will be hospitable. Here, people freak the fuck out and call the cops
God, I have a very strong feeling that their culture will be completely washed away from them, and they'll be living unhappy lives in America.

Even if they lose the hospitality of their homeland I doubt they will miss shitting in a bucket and throwing it out the window.
Reminds me of my Palestinian relative, when he first visited the US he saw a fountain and shouted "why do these stupid Americans throw away money?". :v:
I like when he asks "what does santa clause have to do with the birth of jesus christ?"
I would love to be there and just say "absolutefuckingly nothing"

I know that, but I can't help but think, that one day they'll become the assholes and scumbags that are mixed into our society.
On a lighter note around the 39 minute mark he says "This is Pepsi, but in Africa, we call it CocaCola" I found this to be hilarious.
For once people I can really respect. Some people go around acting like they're "gangster" because they have a cheap apartment and can rap, yet none of them would ever come close to the shit these guys go through.
wow that's how bad airline food is, even dudes from sudan are like "nah dude this shit sucks"
Totes going to watch the whole thing now.

awesome, i love stuff like this
I liked how they are so sociable, which really is something we've come to neglect in America. I feel like this would be a better country if everyone were like these guys. Not to mention, everyone here has made a bad name for themselves: black gangsters, white rapists, mexican illegals....we all created stereotypes for ourselves. These guys exist outside our stereotypes, so while people might think they're black so they must be standing on the side of the road so they can shank unsuspecting victims, they're really there because their culture is one where that is considered to be a sociable thing to do. If we didn't think we had to expect those bad stereotypes, then maybe our culture could be similar.
And there's too much crime in America.

or, as americans, we could inherit a sense of humanity from these videos and these people and learn to better ourselves, only after truly understanding the fuckhole of a country we've made
maybe
I'm surprised nobody said KFC yet.
Ah wait, fuck.

probably because that would be unnecessary and unfunny

Finally a proper use for the optimistic tag.
In western society we make up lies and stories of how every other country is worse then ours, just to hide the fact that we're bad ourselves.

This is really sad actually, hearing that some of them don't even know where their parents are, and having to worry about their home and not being able to go back with the fear of being killed for their beliefs.

you think that's a good thing? i would not like strangers walking into my house uninvited asking for directions. maybe that's one of the main reasons why rape is so common in africa.

or youre ignorant and determine situations as good or bad based on your culture

Uh... I don't understand how people think they can get away with generalizations like this. There's plenty of idiotic, non-progressive thinkers in every nation on our planet.

I don't see why you would say the U.S is a fuckhole of a country. There's crime in some of the more dense urban areas, but other than that it's a very developed first-world place. Living in America is nice compared to anywhere less-developed.

rape is common, because people are friendly! damn

Americans

How can you call him ignorant when you just did that in a previous post? "we're a fuckhole of a country" (I'm assuming you say this because of how the Sudanese immigrants said people weren't friendly, when, actually, it's a more complex cultural thing.)
you think that's a good thing? i would not like strangers walking into my house uninvited asking for directions. maybe that's one of the main reasons why rape is so common in africa.
Maybe because the Sudanese have a different culture than ours. They're a family-oriented type of people.

i think it's because sudanese people live in camping tents set by the american red cross.
Our sociology class just started watching this documentary today. Funny that you'd post it here on the exact same day.

First off, I didn't say the American ideology was idiotic. I said the quoted poster's ideology was idiotic. And what generalization am I making? Take any public area in America, you see people avoiding each other or judging others. People keep to themselves because that's how we see society. It's an unspoken standard. It's easy to say "Americans + unsociable/lazy/criminals in the same sentence = generalization!! he's wrong!" But when you get to the root of it, we have these generalizations because for the most part, they're what we've made our country to be. Obviously, Americans will deny it as a toddler would deny microwaving a fork, but actually being a witness to the reality of our society is the defining factor in being able to fairly judge it.
I can confidently say that almost all gripes people have with American society are true. especially gripes that come from Americans. I agree that America is nice compared to third-world countries but it's that sense of entitlement, the illusion of freedom, that results in a fucked up population of greed driven, technology dependent, pop-culture mimicking robots whose sole purposes consist of getting from point A to point B in less than an hour. Any human contact being considered a "distraction". Any odd looking people being stereotyped as "dangerous" or "lesser".
Sure America has its freedoms, but what are freedoms without a trusted community? Justifying its shittiness by saying "well it could be worse" is creating a scapegoat that only holds us back from our true potential. Having lived here my entire life, I can tell you I completely relate to the uneasiness the Sudanese men are feeling. Not all is well, so don't try to convince yourself it is, or you'll be as blind as the Americans being described in the video.
Also I'm not going to argue because I don't e-argue. Just trying to clarify my posts so you know they aren't just baseless generalizations.
