The assassination of Pim Fortuyn - A democracy in shock I just found this. As an 11-year old, Pim Fortuyn, managed to get me into politics. His personality and political vision are, to this date, widely considered and praised as incredibly valuable. The problems that Pim Fortuyn predicted 10 years ago, have become truth in this day and age, signifying his incredible predictive ability. It's an incredibly interesting and worth-while way to spend 50 minutes.

One can only speculate how successful he would've been if he were in power. His party just made a big mess of things after his passing and eventually fell apart. One can blame the fact that it was because Fortuyn wasn't at the helm, but it doesn't sit right with me that a political party relies on the face of just one person. It was a populist movement in the end and the fact that Fortuyn was murdered at the height of its popularity means his reputation never got tarnished.

After Fortuyns death it was a populist movement.
Holland and europe would've been a better place if he wasn't killed by some crazy leftwing animal rights maniak
10:50 "The Christians of Holland have more rights than the islamists" That mindset is dangerous, very dangerous. Discriminatory and even outright dehumanizing. People of all religions and those of non-religion should be treated equally. 14:00 he says we want a secular state. When you literally say Christians have more rights than Islamists, you're not fucking secular.

The quote you gave is absolutely 100% a false and malicious summation of what he said. Don't do that. There's about 30 hours of interviews and 5 books that he wrote. I read and watched it all. I don't blame you, as it is literally said like that in the documentary, but I can assure you it is false. In no way was his mindset dangerous or dehumanizing. It was discriminatory, yes, but I do not share the foul taste this word brings to your mind. Treating different people different is healthy and normal. Treating them as inferior or subhuman IS wrong, but distinguishing between people based on facts is literally discriminatory, yet perfectly fine to me. The background of this, ripped out of context, quote was: Someone asked him why he was against the islam leaving a further print on Dutch culture. What he actually said was, and again, this is still a parafrased translation; "Legally and humanely everyone has the same right. But morally, in this country, I feel like the Dutch christian culture morally has more rights, than a young strange introduced element like the islam since the older present christian culture made this country what it is today."
14:00 he says we want a secular state. When you literally say Christians have more rights than Islamists, you're not fucking secular.
He didn't say anything about people having more rights. He spoke about cultures. He did not want an islamic influence on the Dutch culture any longer. Immigration is a huge failure when it comes to islamic groups. In Holland there's no problems whatsoever with 9 out 10 ethnic minorities. They have a grasp of the Dutch language, they are employed in the same rates as the Dutch are, and have similar crimerates. Islamic immigrants are HUGELY dependant on social security for their income, are MASSIVELY overrepresented in crimestatistics and pretty much any other 'bad list' you can find. This is a fact, which I invite you to confirm by visiting CBS.nl What Pim proposed was NOT to get rid of islamic people, but to halt the mass-immigration and to then focus on the group that is here to integrate more succesfully. If this would not succeed, then he would actively stimulate their repatriation. I truly do understand why you would see a huge red flag in the way the parafrase is half-assed presented there, but Pim spent his whole life fighting against people willingly misrepresenting what he said, and it led up to his death. Please do not perpetuate the wrongful representation of what he said and thought.
Wow... I just posted this and now there's another example of failed integration in Paris, France. My condoleances.
My great grand parents came to Holland to contribute and work, they tried their best to integrate into the Dutch society and it worked for our family. Seeing teen-aged kids talking about how they just want social benefits fuckin sickens me. Get a job, get a life, get off the fucking street or head back to your country of origin and learn how good you have it here. Pim Fortuyn knew EXACTLY what was happening but everyone just had to jump on the hate-train.
I don't know Pim Fortuyn, he was before my generation; but I know that time time spending mourning the death of a martyr is wasted.
That or you could learn from some of the very strong points he had and educate the folks around you..

The Dutch have nothing against immigrants. They have problems with crime causing, lazy, intolerant, selfrighteous, social security abusing, unadapted, willfully segregated immigramts
Thank you for the acceptance into this country. lmao <3
