When will the "80's pop song except it slow" trend die?
Looks like another TomorrowLand to me
Honestly, that was a pretty dope trailer and a pretty good cover of the song as well, but i do agree that the "80's pop song sung slowly" trend needs to die down for a while because there just over doing it at this point, what's next are they gonna get someone to sing "barbie girl" in serious manner as well :v:
If you see / saw this in 3D in theatres, I did a bunch of those shots.

Funny little fact: That final "Wrinkle in Time" title shot initially says "A Wrin in Tinkle Me" before it corrects itself. Most of it is hidden by the extra screen effects, but you can kinda see it in that initial flash.

wait what

Daemon works as a 3D post-processor for a film-editing company. I don't know the details (he's much better qualified for elaborating), but he works on whatever editing is necessary for getting 3D shots to work properly.
I don't know if he handles explicitly-shot-for-3D clips, if he handles explicitly-shot-for-2D-but-edited-to-be-in-3D clips (I vaguely remember him bringing up Clash of the Titans, but I can't recall with any certainty), or both, though.
Pretty cool stuff, regardless.
I read those books a long ass time a go. That was some trippy ass science fiction as a kid. I don't remember much.
2D to 3D Conversions. We're given a 2D src and we convert it to 3D through a few stages in the company. Depth makes the base / rough projections, Prep (also sometimes Comp / Me) makes rotos and cleanplates to give cleaner edges and recreate bg detail so there's no stretching visually, then Comp / I place them all together and cleanup any remaining artefacts and edge stretching.
Hard stuff.
The 80's song thing is way better than that loud obnoxious sound and the jumpcuts that were prevalent in trailers until recently. Now that was real cancer, I am so happy that trend died
Didn't they already make a bad movie based on the novels?
I'm also doing some 3d asset work on this movie, daemon you may very well have done/will do conversion of some of our shots, small world.

Ayy. Well, I will not be doing any future work at Legend as my contract has ended and I have another job in a different field at another studio.
If you did any of those forest dusty windy shots, I worked on 2 of those.
I too am also working on this film, I pluck oprah's eyelashes

Why couldn't they use the good version?
I like the look of this but that comes with the fact I'm a huge slut for LSD-esque movies and general mind-fuckery, in the likes of The Inception, Dr. Strange (even though that one turned into quite bit of disappointment) and similar.

Not dramatic, sang-by-soft-frail-voice enough.

Yeah, I'm sure. These songs are at least nice to listen to, unlike "BWOOOOOONG"

I remember the books, the person who wrote them died of cancer I think.
Anyway the only cool part about this book was the weird planet with the ball bouncing kids, it turns out the whole place was basically Earth 2, until its taken over by mind-controlling physical god in the form of a brain-in-a-jar who puts everyone in perfect conformity and tries to absorb everything else. Anyone out of rhythm is reconditioned with pain.
The creature doing it thinks he's doing them a favor, because he assumes they have the same lack of emotions as him, but are in chaos and out of sync. P cool idea, really original for the time.
Also the book covers were dope.

Also idk where they got "middle-aged women in multi-color Hunger Games drag, $10,000,000 spent in costume design" from. Now THAT's a shit trend.

I can honestly say that working on refining all those little gems and triangle detail bullshit on the costumes was a major pain in the ass.
