Their argument is that adblocking becoming popular will directly hurt content creators and is therefore a bad thing and something that should be suppressed. My opinion is that adblocking finally gives us as clients the ability to put pressure on advertisers to improve their services. Make safe, unobtrusive and interesting ads and I'll gladly pay attention to them.
Indeed. I'll consider turning ABP off when ads are no longer an easy way for malware creators to foist their wares on legit websites. Still probably won't turn it off though.
Ads are fine if they don't make any sound and don't interrupt my viewing (ie: unskippable ads at the start of a youtube video).
What I do wish I could do is turn off ads for certain youtubers, but as far as I know, no adblock plugin does that yet.
Maybe if ill disable my adblock if you actually put out good content. You're making a living online and you're bitching when the gravy trains coming to a halt, perhaps you shouldn't have put all your eggs into the youtube basket.
I'll stop using adblock when youtube fucks off with unskippable ads and pop ups and pop unders no longer exist (which will be never).
I'll unblock for sites that deserve the ad revenue but other than that fuck no
Ads are fine if they don't make any sound and don't interrupt my viewing (ie: unskippable ads at the start of a youtube video).
or those emote ads WHAAAAT SAY WHAT AGAINWHAAAAT SAY WHAT AGAINWHAAAAT SAY WHAT AGAINWHAAAAT SAY WHAT AGAINWHAAAAT SAY WHAT AGAINWHAAAAT SAY WHAT AGAINWHAAAAT SAY WHAT AGAINWHAAAAT SAY WHAT AGAINWHAAAAT SAY WHAT AGAINWHAAAAT SAY WHAT AGAINWHAAAAT SAY WHAT AGAINWHAAAAT SAY WHAT AGAINWHAAAAT SAY WHAT AGAINWHAAAAT SAY WHAT AGAINWHAAAAT SAY WHAT AGAINWHAAAAT SAY WHAT AGAINWHAAAAT SAY WHAT AGAINWHAAAAT SAY WHAT AGAIN
There should be a version of Adblock that disables any animation/sound of adverts and not allow you to click on them.
a lot of youtube video makers and online writers (mostly gaming journalists lol) have been going on tirades about adblock on twitter lately, basically saying that anyone who uses adblock is a horrible horrible person and will cause the death of their respective industries well i'm sorry that I don't like pop ups or 30 second advertisements that kill my interest in a video.

To all the people that bring up Youtube for adblock; is it just me, or are all those goddamn ads getting through anyway? Adblock and Adblock Plus aren't doing jackshit to stop Youtube's constant fog of advertisements now..
Nothing makes things more awkward than when I have friends over trying to watch a youtube video and a shit ton of political ads pop up. Never coming back from adblock

Fuck all ads!

I use ABP and Youtube ads get through, haven't tried Adblock but if the same shit happens then damn. Blip also does that stupid 90 second wait, sometimes ABP blocks it again but then blip just updates and gets around it.

This video is a bunch of bullshit, ads make loads of money, they just want more adsense revenue
I haven't seen ads on YT with ABP but apparently Google paid them to let their ads through...
Yeah I've only seen google ads... which is bullshit. I see nothing on youtube though. I even adblocked the stupid "USE YOUR REAL NAME! NO? DON'T WANT TO? WE'LL ASK YOU AGAIN IN 2 DAYS KTHX" prompt I prefer things like in Rev3 videos where they mention a sponsor rather than have unskippable adverts in the intro
I don't think it's insane to think content creators deserve a cut of some sort of profit. I mean honestly, are the Ads really THAT intrusive? (Excluding the unskippable, minute long ads, those are bullshit no matter which way you look). These people aren't getting HUGE sums of cash, mind you, but I think that the fair amount of pennies they're getting isn't insane.

The new shiny thing in advertising is keeping track of literally everyone on the globe and their habits so you can push products they might like right in their face. I don't like being tracked on the internet so someone can make a quick few cents.

I refuse to disable adblock ever. Whenever I turn it off on youtube stupid fucking invisible ads that make sound start blasting through my speakers whenever I'm listening to music. As soon as crappy ads go away, I will disable adblock.
Pewdiepie.
You may not like PDP, but it's not "easy". It's not something you do an hour a week. I can assure you that he puts in over 40 hours a week into it. And I'd imagine he also has someone he hires to help him. That's typical for big channels.
I turn my Ad-block off usually when the ads are replaced with a genuine message from the site-owner asking to turn it off. If the adds are overly animated/distracting, I turn it back on. Otherwise I leave it off.
I turn of adblock for certain domains like SA and the LParchive.
It's time for content creators to find another way to fund themselves then, if it truly reaches the point where too many people block ads for them to be profitable
Stop it with the animated, large and noisy ads and I'll consider not using adblock.
It's time for content creators to find another way to fund themselves then, if it truly reaches the point where too many people block ads for them to be profitable
Donations or YT's subscription service. Guess which one got universal hate from everything ever so every YT'er is scared to fucking death to use it.
How is adblock any different than people changing the channel on TV. TV advertisers know people do it and they just deal with it.
