Winter Storm Jonas is kicking off Thursday with an initial round of snow and ice, and will turn into a major snowstorm Friday into the weekend over a large swath of the East Coast. Heavy snow is expected to fall across parts of at least 15 states, with blizzard conditions possible over parts of the Washington D.C., Baltimore and New York City metro areas. Winter Storm Jonas will also feature strong, possibly damaging winds, significant icing and coastal flooding.
See the red part? That's where I live :D
well East Coast, your fucking winter showed up...
Boston is going to have nothing, sucks
Might lose power here. No heat or anything for at least 2-3 days maybe more.
Im on the call-team for work for tomorrow and the rest of the week.
Welp, i had a good run.
It's likely we might lose power. there are a fuckload of data centers out where I live. Here's hoping your favorite CS:GO server isn't located out here :)
Fuck my life. I hate snow. New York sucks with it.
Oddly enough, I wish it would brush the SC/GA border region where I live, we've not gotten any snow in January/December for several years now.

Must be shit datacenters if they don't at least have a few days worth of backup power and priority contracts for more fuel. Even the smallish one I used to work for did.

God why. I moved to Central Mississippi to escape the snow, yet I'm getting some tomorrow anyways.

They do. They ones I've toured here have 2nd priority to auxiliary power after hospitals, and they've also got GIGANTIC diesel powered generators. It was just a joke
the east coast servers are in washington
south east coast servers are in tampa
think CSGO people will be alright
on topic though damn that's p bad storm
don't go outside, if you got a fireplace, i hope you stocked up on wood and you plan on using it
you're gonna need it
that and some board games and hot chocolate
Chances are, if you've got a server in a data center in "Washington", it's actually in Dulles, VA. More specifically, it's likely in Ashburn, VA or Sterling, VA.
NC in a state of emergency for the probable 4 inches we get, all school cancelled work cancelled people have already died
Calling for ~2 feet of snow here in NOVA. School was cancelled today and tomorrow.

That's not to mention Drift
Here in western NC (The mountains basically) stores are running out of food. No bread or milk or soup at all.

we are fucked.
I'm right in the center of the red, that storm's coming to shove it's icy foot directly up my ass. Worst part is that whenever we lose power it's often for several days or more. I am not looking forward to this.

I work for an afterschool program in NOVA, and just found out that my boss went ahead and decided to close tomorrow. Thank god, I'd rather not be on the roads tomorrow.
Why the fuck are we naming snowstorms?
Virginia's mobilizing the National Guard. Only 500 for now but still...

I used to work at Ida Lee Rec Center as a lifeguard. They used to make me drive from Ashburn to Leesburg at 4am to open the pool even when there was a foot of snow on the ground.
Thank god I don't work there anymore
Come up North, it's safe in Canada.
Here in South Jersey, hoping we don't lose power
Im only getting up to 3 inches up here. Damn i want another 2013 blizzard, road bans and shit. I love natural disasters

Geez, that sucks. Was calling in sick an option?
Geez, that sucks. Was calling in sick an option?
Yes, actually. Ida Lee is the only place I have ever worked where not showing up to work at the last minute did not result in getting fired. We need at least 2 lifeguards to operate, and without a 3rd one we can't open the therapeutic pool. So on shitty days, the 3rd lifeguard wouldn't show up. I showed up cause I would just drive real slow on the totally unplowed Rt. 7 and then just chill cause nobody could actually make it to the pool so I got paid $12/hr to just chill and read a book. Also I like being known as dependable.
I'm in baltimore and I'm going to try to get a flight back home tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Get it early. They'll probably ground the flights if you don't go soon enough. Consider taking a redeye tonight
PA governor already declared a state of emergency.
Philadelphia here, we're supposed to get like > a foot
I'm not sure whether to be scared or excited
