A 13-YEAR-OLD boy admitted raping his eight-year-old sister after watching pornography on a friend's Xbox.
The case has reignited the debate over children’s access to porn, with a rape charity calling for tighter restrictions.
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, also pleaded guilty to indecently assaulting the girl and inciting her to perform a sexual act on him.
The youngster, from Blackburn, had told police he had been watching porn on the games console with a friend and ‘decided to try it out’.
He said he had chosen his sister because she was small and ‘couldn't remember stuff’.
The teenager, who appeared before Blackburn Magistrates Court yesterday, was bailed to live with family members while the youth offending team prepares a pre-sentence report on him.
The victim is now being supported by specialist officers.
After the hearing, Det Insp Claire Holbrook, from the public protection unit, said: “This is one of those tragic sexual experimentation cases.
“The family is now being supported and the child is recovering well.”
I just have no words. This is truly fucked up beyond all belief.
This kid is fucked up in the head.
There's more going on than just porn-exposure for him to do such an act.
I blame the parents of both families, if anyone at all is to blame.
That is around the normal age to start, but there is something going on that we don't know about. You don't rape your 8 year old sister just because you watched some porn.

Wouldn't it be that kid's friends fault for exposing him to that porn which led him to the rape?

Porn doesn't make you want to rape people, I saw it at a young age as did a LOT of people I imagine and I still thought rape was totally wrong at that age too

it's one family; it was his sister

I hope not. Then you can blame the Xbox for transmitting the material.
What someone shows or says to you is one thing, how you act on it is your own responsibility.

I could see a kid who'd never been exposed to anything sexual in nature not understanding the problem with what they did, but by 13 you should have been taught about these kinds of things. I wonder if there's something wrong with the kid mentally.

Well, we don't know how this kid was raised and/or what was going through his mind during that time.
it's one family; it was his sister
he might be talking about the boy and the boy's friend that exposed him to the porn to begin with
I'm starting to think maybe this kid was locked in the closet for most of his childhood.

Well, again, we don't know how this kid was raised. Maybe he saw it and thought he could re-enact it, thinking it was harmless. Maybe he thought otherwise. We just don't know. But I get what you're saying.
I found it extremely difficult to type up a response to this. There's got to be something more than just the kid watching porn. I ultimately question the upbringing of the child.
I told you vidya games only cause the trouble! See! The Xbox, a GAMING system, enabled this rapist! Ban Vidya.
-Politicians when the initial shock of the event fades and they can prey on the situation without getting called out by the media
I'd wager that there was more to the story of WHY this kid raped his sister than "I saw the penis go into the vagina."
I think a critical question that hasn't been raised yet is: what kind of porn?
I mean if the kid was watching some sort of extreme bondage or rape porn, then certainly having that as the first exposure to sex would be different than, say, softcore lesbian pornography?
I mean, I don't doubt there's something fucked with the kid if he found committing actual rape an excusable thing, and that if his parents never gave him the "no is no and I fucking mean it no is no don't ever think elsewise" talk then certainly there's blame for them as well.
But I think the type of porn should also be considered. Not all porn is equal. If all he was watching was violent bondage & rape pornography, then I can certainly see how that would form the impression that sex is naturally violent, and the "small and not able to resist" is certainly a strong element in rape and bondage porn. If he was watching softcore lesbian stuff, on the other hand, and still decided to rape his sister, well, I'd say that the pornography wasn't so big a contributing factor in the overall scheme of things.
I find it ridiculous people can blame this on porn. Having watched alot of porn when I was 12. Like near every genre atleast once. Funnily enough I have never raped anyone.
This kid is a very young sexual predator who has serious mental problems, using porn as a last attempt at a cop out.

I'm pretty sure if when he entered his little sister and she was probably crying and screaming that he might be doing something wrong..

Anime is the true trouble.

I'm not so sure that really matters.
That will just bring credibility to the argument that violence in video games and movies affect people and make them violent, which there is no scientifical evidence for.
It has to be much deeper than just watching people having sex, no matter how violently, that has caused such a tought pattern.
Doesn't necessarily have to be anyones fault though, it could simply be something wrong with him that no one knew about.
I remember watching porn when I was 13. Sure I hid like a mouse and only watched it at night with the volume on mute and my hand grasping the remote, ready to change the channel, but I watched it.
And I haven't raped anyone. Hell, it didn't even cross my mind. That kid is fucked up.
My girlfriend works with kids with stories like this... a lot of them just didn't really understand the implications of what they were doing when they perped.
Parents really need to talk with their kids about this stuff.

About the rape or the porn?

People like to point to Bandura's Bobo Doll experiment as evidence of "kids see, kids do." But the connection between that experiment and actual media is nebulous. Also, this boy is 13 years old. By that point, a healthy child should have some sense of self control and empathy.

This scares me.
From that remark, I am very sure he knew he was doing something wrong, yet did it anyway.
This kind of thing will hit the anti-censorship campaigns hard, especially seeing as this happened in the UK. Cameron will have a good time with shit like this under his belt
Not Normal. o_o

In all seriousness, its even worse because he was methodical about it.

Sexual activity usually feels naturally wrong or off-putting to those who haven't gone through puberty yet.
not sure if I should feel bad because the kid could possibly not really understand the severity of what he did or hate him because he is most likely a fucking insane psycho and clearly knew what he was doing and didn't care
