Their newest album. It sounds nothing like their old stuff but some of the songs are pretty cool. They definitely have adopted a more bass-ey sound and are generally more slow paced now. These, in my opinion, are the best songs from the album. The other quiet songs don't really excite me that much. Pretty Visitors Dance Little Liar Potion Approaching Dangerous Animals Crying Lightning - in my opinion not the best song on the album, but whatever My Propeller (User was permabanned for this post ("Obscene avatar" - cosmic duck))
.. Artic Monkeys? - What the fuck.
whoops. mods rename the thread tia
that's better. Also, I like how they broadened their horizons, their old stuff was purely great, but so is this. My favorite songs would have to be Pretty Visitors, Dangerous Animals and Crying Lightning.
This is great. Sounds louder.
Saw them live a few weeks ago. It was awesome! I really enjoyed the mixture of the older, faster songs and the new slower ones. It's a bit more like stoner now.
I hate Crying Lightning, just couldn't get into it. Not heard the rest of the album but I like their previous albums so I'll give it a listen
Crying lightning gave me a bad picture of the album. I am relieved it ended alright. This album got some highlights.
This is produced by Josh Homme, isn't it?
Co-produced by Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, the album was wholly recorded in the United States. Homme-produced tracks recorded in Los Angeles and the Mojave Desert alongside New York recordings produced - as per the second album - by James Ford[1], who also produced the album The Age of the Understatement by Turner's side-project The Last Shadow Puppets.
Looking forward to seeing them live.
I hate crying lightning. With a passion. worst thing is i don't know why.
I'm a huge fan.. but I can't help but think this album is shit. Not that they're trying to do something different, just that I reckon a fair few songs sound the same so it's fairly bland. Though Dangerious Animals is a good song, My propellor is alright, Crying Lightning sucks. Haven't listened to the rest properly.
great new album, I love cornerstone, secret door and dance little liar.
Love this album, and all their old albums. Their new direction is awesome.
Yep, i actually bought this because i loved all the songs. current favourites are pretty visitors and my propeller [editline]10:23PM[/editline] i prefer their old stuff though
(User was permabanned for this post ("Obscene avatar" - cosmic duck)) what the fuck kind of ban reason is that?
(User was permabanned for this post ("Obscene avatar" - cosmic duck)) what the fuck kind of ban reason is that?
he had a blurred out goatse as his avatar. RIP Rambo_6 [editline]08:09AM[/editline] also he had made the dick wiggle.
Arctic monkeys are amazing, don't know why I stopped listening
I haven't heard much by them, but I like Brianstorm in GH5. I heard the guy from QotSA helped produce the album, so it should be good.
Dance Little Liar reminds me of Franz Ferdinand. Comparing to their old albums, it's not as good, but cool if you were waiting I guess.
he had a blurred out goatse as his avatar. RIP Rambo_6 [editline]08:09AM[/editline] also he had made the dick wiggle.
It's not like no-one on this forum has seen, let alone fapped to goatse right?
their best song IMO. The lyrics are p. awesome and the video is cool
WHY, Duck, WHYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
he had a blurred out goatse as his avatar. RIP Rambo_6 [editline]08:09AM[/editline] also he had made the dick wiggle.
No reason to be banned, he's had it all over FP for like months now, no other mod gave a shit, anyway, you could barely see it. That was totally unfair, but then again, most bans are here. On topic: this album is meh, some songs are proper arctic monkeys, like Potion Approaching, others just... well I think they're shit :P
Just got my teeth into this record. It's wonderful. The darker soundwhich comes from the Josh Homme influence gives this more depth than the previous 2 indie albums. I'd suggest giving this one a listen. Its good for QOTSA fans and monkeys alike. This is great music and its brilliant stuff to fuck to whilst doing mild drugs. Oh yes, don't do drugs.
I used to like them when I was 12, but now I've gotten more into jazz fusion, and other intelligible genres.
Listened to it a bit and eh, I'm not too sure what to think of it.
Dont know what to think of it really, bit of a weird carnivally sound I guess, but not like their old stuff. Loved their old stuff to bits, first two albums were absolute awesome, not so sure about this, I love arctic monkeys and QOTSA though, so I was expecting something awesome but instead we got this sort of weird creature which I still dont understand.
Really only like Pretty Visitors and Crying Lightning for the most part. Alright musically but alot of their lyrics annoy the hell out of me, for whatever reason.
