On August 2nd, 2010, College Humor posted an original video: a parody of Inception written by Dan Gurewitch and David Young. Two days ago, South Park aired a new episode: a parody of Inception that seemed strangely familiar.
well looks like they are running out of ideas.
Website copies tv show = sues.
Tv show copies website = "Oh lol guys I was so impressed by your work I had to copy it, heh!"
at least they apologized
They said that they used the parody as source material because they though the parody used lines directly from the movie. No blatant plagiarism here, only a minor error.
No guys, that's the joke. Just imagine the producers all huddled around a table watching a silver spinning top, and then the sweat starts to form on their brows and as the top tumbles over, they realize that the college humor version was actually an Inception to give them all an idea to make an Inception parody.
David and I just got off the phone with Matt Stone (coolest sentence I've ever written). He was extremely nice and apologetic. He explained that when they couldn't get a copy of an Inception screener, they used our sketch as source material. They thought that the lines in our sketch were taken directly from Inception (and the joke was that they were arranged in rapid succession), rather than original lines written by us.
Looks like they still might get sued.
Because college humor is always completely original and funny >_>
I personally enjoy southpark more than college humor. Both may have turned in the same direction of 'unfunny-ness' but Southpark does it in a more enjoyable way to me.

Well they made the episode in 6 days.

I bet if CH had done the same thing Stone and Parker probably would have laughed their asses off at it and not cared
The South Park version was funnier I think.

Clearly you have no idea what a "screener" is.
Ironic how a parody is considered an original video.
College Humor's parody is so much more funny if you watch it fully.
Well they made the episode in 6 days.
Right, because that's how TV shows are made. :downs:
The instant I saw that guy start doing the theme I knew it was taken straight from college humor, but they did it justice and it suited the very funny episode very well, so now that they brought it up and apologized I think it's fair.

Try Parker and Matt Stone pride themselves in making each episode in under a week.

That is how South Park is made...

You clearly don't know shit all.
South Park episodes have always been created last minute. How do you think they managed the Presedential episode which needed to have the president who wasn't elected until the day before the episode or so in the episode as the president? Last minute shit.
In short, don't talk.
I watched it and it was funny so it's all good.

Actually they only made an Obama-win version, they didn't do anything special for McCain. At least wikipedia says so.

It wouldn't be a different ending, they basically just had to cut and paste one into the others spots and change a few seconds of dialouge. It's not like writing two endings, but still, work has to be done last minute.
They need to make more fun of Scientology.
See it's funny because South Park hasn't been good since like 2004.
Both were awesome.

That reminds me of the final line of Insheeption.

South Park has never been good, guess it can be chuckle-worthy at times though.

It's all a matter of opinion.
I'm glad college humor was cool about the whole thing, also:
I just saw this on the Insheepion wikipedia page:
.gays are bad they are demons sent from hell to destroy the earth and if i ever see a gay person i will shoot them in there mental heads to cure there diases
Eh the South park episode was still awesome.
