The U.S. scrambled fighter aircraft Thursday to protect American special operations forces and allies from Syrian government warplane attacks near the northeastern Syrian city of Hassakeh, the Pentagon said Friday.
Navy Capt. Jeff Davis said the U.S. has increased combat air patrols in that area and has warned Syria that America will defend coalition troops. He also said he believes this is the first time the U.S. has scrambled aircraft in response to an incident like this involving Syrian government bombings.
He said a small number of U.S. commandos were in the area training and advising Syrian Democratic Forces. The strikes, he said, “did not directly impact our forces. They were nearby – close enough that it gives us great pause.”
The U.S. initially contacted the Russians, and Moscow denied responsibility for the bombings. The U.S. relayed the warning to Syria through Russia because they are allied with the Syrian government in that country’s civil war.
Saying the U.S. will do what is needed to protect coalition forces, Davis added, “The Syrian regime would be well advised not to do things that would place them at risk.”
SDF is now in war with regime. Conflict was unavoidable between them and boiling point is finally reached.
Now US will have to enforce No Fly Zone over Syria or completely abandon Syria even in fight against ISIS.

It'll probably calm down tbh.
It's the largest flair up, but both sides aren't utterly irrational. It's a show of force from both of them.
This is stupid. They have homes. You wouldnt say this about any other nation.
What they need is rights. After you have rights, nationalism pitching for a new state, a nation state, is pure and simple agitating pointless violence.
There are better ways to give people rights than form new stupid nation states possibly run by crooks and terrorists. Look at the refugee crisis stats, see how much are from Kosovo. Nation states should be an obsolete concept. Fight actually for peoples rights, dont pitch for botched solutions like these.
I think it's more about preserving their language than rights.
I mean, It's obviously about rights too but I think they also fight to keep their identity.

ya but the kurds had their shit together when iraq fell to pieces, even funded their own military forces before the US got involved. they also have a functional non sectarian government
It almost happened again, but this type the Syrian Su-24s were intercepted by F-22s
Following the first “close encounter” the Pentagon warned Assad regime to not fly or conduct raids in the area where the American SOF are operating. However, on Aug. 19, two Su-24 Fencers, attempted again to penetrate the airspace near Hasakah.
This time, the two Syrian Arab Air Force attack planes were met by American F-22 Raptors (most probably already operating in the same area providing Combat Air Patrol).
As reported by ABC, a U.S. official said the presence of American F-22 aircraft “encouraged the Syrian aircraft to depart the airspace without further incident. No weapons were fired by the coalition fighters.”
Fighting is still ongoing today, as YPG declared they won't stop fighting until regime forces are removed from Hasakah. Meanwhile regime already started to spew propaganda that Kurds had committed war crimes against Syrian Arabs in area for past year( all lies) and declared YPG is a terrorist organization PKK.
Things are not cooling down from there.

Assad's regime had denied Kurds to even have a citizenship every since Syrian state was founded.
