"Empowering patients to make decisions, instead of just listening to the doctors"... worked out great. My mom is now my fathers personal doctor.
I've heard within advertising that doing a drug commercial is basically career suicide and as a result drug companies pay A LOT to make these ads.

How so? Why would a well produced drug commercial be bad for a advertising career? It's not like it's an ad for some religious or political group.

Well if said drug is later revealed to be dangerous for health it wouldn't really be good publicity that you helped amplify its usage.
Doctors aren't nearly as informed about new drugs as people thing they are. In fact doctors often have no idea at all about why some drugs might be better than others.

I don't really think it's fair to blame advertisers for that reason; what if the drug helped tons of people? You can't be blamed for that unless you had prior knowledge to any harmful side affects. I mean, that's the reason cigarette commercials don't exist anymore.

Maybe it's because doctors prefer tried and tested drugs rather than new drugs with unknown consequences
