Who is the faggot holding a meme face sign around 1:30 - 1:40?
1:20, the guy dressed as jesus is hilarious.
Though, I do find meme-esque jokes everything in the video a bit distracting.
If an atheist makes a video like this where they just insult everyone else and talk about how amazing they are, then they are no better than the people they are against that try and force their own opinions and beliefs onto others. It's fairly hypocritical.

But I am atheist so it didn't piss me off or anything. I just think they could have done it a little better.

Oh look! another person who wants to dismiss the objective factual argument based on the method it was presented. We don't know a political party that thrives on that kind of shit, do we?

I'm sorry but spreading science and rational thought has been the human challenge since we started walking this earth, and I'm glad the few are fighting (and winning). Let's not be sensitive to the feelings of those who wish to control the morality by fear. Imagine where we would be if the early pioneers of the scientific method prevailed. Instead we squandered thousands of years fighting religious wars, and it's about time we stopped. Wasn't Hitler enough for these fucking people? Aren't people in 2012 tired of this shit?
Who is the faggot holding a meme face sign around 1:30 - 1:40?
Dont care, but you look much worse for complaining about it.
What a bloated, pointless, self-congratulatory piece of shit of a video.
I've heard about the Youtube atheist community being juvenile and moronic before, but for a representative of theirs to make this sort of video without realising that he made the exact type of video that those same Republican candidates he's talking about would make as a campaign ad is just embarassing.
WE ARE RIGHT!
WE ARE WINNING!
IF YOU'RE SMART, YOU'RE ONE OF US!
THOSE OTHER GUYS ARE FUCKING IDIOTS!
What a hypocritical crock of dogshit.

ah yes, because the argument against religion is based on the method its presented in.
Is the Reason Rally going to be a yearly thing now? If I find the money I might try and go next time. It looks like fun.
It's a shame that the eradication of religion won't be in my lifetime.

Make a poll saying that 68% of americans are religious, get rated dumb.
do the opposite, get rated winner.

I don't know if you've noticed or not, but facepunch has a large atheist population. If this was a christian message board, you would see the opposite happen. People are glad to see their religious viewpoint is spreading. Atheists have felt persecuted and marginalized by society for a long time, and it's just now that we are starting to get a fair shake in the USA.

While I agree with you, the whole, "religion is bad kthx" is ridiculous. Its just people who typically making dumb statements like, "It's a shame that the eradication of religion won't be in my lifetime.". People who go out of their way just to say the other side is dumber and etc. I'm not trying to imply that there aren't religious people who don't do the same, but holy shit.

Eradication is not the best choice of words, but saying he thinks people who like it should burn? that's a bridge too far. I agree with the idea that religion, over a long period of time has very negative effects on society.
I don't even have to point to all the killings (which do have a lot of nuances, I admit), just look at what the christian fascists in this country are doing. They, by policy, are encouraging reproduction and unsafe abortions, they are pushing for the death penalty, keeping homosexuals as second class citizens, destroying the education system by filling it with unfounded, old-world beliefs, and so forth. They're a minority, yes, but they're taking advantage of a low voter turnout, so their opposition is limited. To echo Edward R Murrow, they didn't create the low voter turnout, they merely exploited it. It's still shameful, nonetheless.
Non-religious != Atheist
That's the tricky issue about polling, if you polled people and asked "are you an atheist" a much smaller percentage will answer yes than if you ask "are you non-religious".

thats a very good point. I haven't thought about that.

And if you would ask everyone who ticked "I'm religious" a question like "what's the main reason you describe yourself as religious?" only a third of them would answer "because I believe in and follow religious values". There was a poll like that in UK I think, I can't find it now. But shitload of people answer that they are religious but they haven't been in the church in years nor they follow any rules of the religion the claim to follow.

On a day to day basis I do not go around saying such things, but within the context of a thread like this it's my opinion. I'm an atheist and i think the world would be a better place without religion. It's simply my opinion.

I think athiests rate about 12 percent or something last time I checked. Still, 32 percent is a stunning number in what was, and still is an overwhelmingly religious country. I don't think it's that exciting, but it's still good news nonetheless.

Sounds like your describing all organised religion.
Sounds like your describing all organised religion.
Yes.
And?
I just hate watching movies where people are like "LoL look at this religious idiot. We sure showed him" Frankly people can believe in whatever the hell they want without everyone else having to give their opinions.
I was a slacker Catholic for approximately fourteen years but in the past five I really don't know anymore. I have seen so much corruption in the Church, hypocrisy in its flock I can't say I associate myself with any organized religion. I think that is what this ultimately boils down to, the organization.
You have all probably have heard this argument before, but, doesn't it appear to all the self-proclaimed atheists like he is that by becoming radical and making videos like this and saying "we are winning" is grouping all atheists together? Making atheists a group whose faith is of the idea that theistic religion is the bane of the world. Doesn't that make you no better than those who say God exists because he exists, you are saying no religion is best because it is? I mean sure atheists say "we have science!" but doesn't that make you a faith in science, when science is inherently based on constantly breaking faith and trying something new?
We are human, we need a clan to cling to. Me? I stick to the engineering community and my immediate family. Atheists have other atheist Christians have other Christians, Muslims stick with Muslims. At the end of the day, not many people honestly wish good will to all men. Most people wish good will to all those they know will help them in time of need, with good reason. Why wish good health to your enemy? That is illogical. So, basically what I am saying is that atheist have every right to exist, they are just as much human as a Christian, Muslim, or Hindu. That being said, there is reciprocity in this world amongst moral and logical people. And I do not want to hear bullshit arguments like "hurr durr, theists aren't logical!" They are just as much logical in they choosing of a clan as atheists have been.

Sorry, I have little respect for ancient ignorant beliefs. When someone tells me about a man walking on water, I respect it no different than a story from a children's book. Perhaps I am elitist in the sense that I believe that science is higher than a plagiarized book that directly conflicts with scientific conclusions and evidence.
Putting the two on the same level is despicable. I'm not saying you're "HITLER!11!" but when you put facts, lies, and ignorance on the same playing field you're just another tool of human regression and enslavement of thought.
I'm not in the camp that all bad in the world comes from religion, but I think it's a horrible influence on society over long periods. Religion makes otherwise intelligent people stoop to ignorance of thousands of years ago.
Everyone knows there is no god, its just some are too afraid to be alone,
so they have to keep their perma friend that lives in the sky that always listens to you and never says anything bad to you.
It's funny how these threads degrade to atheists arguing with other atheists arguing with agnostics.

To his defense, Religion is generally half-assed.
I don't think you guys understand religion at all. Only the people who use it.
