I'm not impressed and struggle to understand the need for (another) reboot.
money
Bring back the old cast =(
:speechless:
It looks so gritty it hurts
Bring back the old cast =(
Let's help Fraser with the alimony
Sorry no, mummy doesn't exist without Fraser
I remember watching these films and thinking "This is shit. I love it." I can't see Tom Cruise fitting in tbh
The first 2 were awesome, I used to watch them when I was younger they were so cheesy but fun to watch, now this just looks like any reboot/modern movie "oh something found, military needs to be sent in"
Russel Crow is good tho
Russel Crow is good tho
Yeah i'd like to see what his role is, Russell Crowe in any movie is a win
this movie can't possibly make the mummy franchise any worse
god talk about going south with the direction of your reboot :speechless:
You guys forget that this is part of a Cinematic Monster Universe that they're trying to build :v:
this movie can't possibly make the mummy franchise any worse
it has tom cruise in it, it's worse by default

I saw on facebook comments for this trailer, peolle saying how TC is such an amazing actor lol
I'll just copy what I posted in the other thread: That teaser killed any kindling interest I might have had in this movie. When I heard they were going for a Marvel-style cinematic universe I assumed it meant crossovers, but it looks like they just made a fucking Marvel movie. Everything about it looks so generic, from the logo to the boring-ass modern day setting to the villain. And the overall visual style, but it might be too early to judge that. And of course there's a sequence where the monster destroys part of a city. Audiences won't flock to see your movie if it doesn't have buildings being torn apart. Even the tagline is setting up their franchise. And no doubt there will be a plot where the fate of the world is in the balance and everything is doomed unless Tom Cruise stops it. No thanks. the reason why the mummy was fun was because it was like bmovie cheesy goodness from the 50s modernized. Having it be gritty and edgy in a modern setting makes absolutely no sense and looks horrible.
But Tom Cruise isn't bad??? Lately, he hasn't turned in any great performances, but he is not a shitty actor by any stretch and if people think he can't act need to check out Magnolia and Collateral. The worst thing about this movie is the fact that Universal wants to turn this into a cinematic universe a la Marvel.

you cant have a mummy movie without fraser :(

Absolutely pathetic. A weird clap is one of the reasons why he is not casted anymore? The problems caused by others have influenced the reasons why he doesn't get roles anymore? People didn't grow tired of Mummy when the third one arrived, the third one was just awfully made. You can just tell that it was not made by the same people behind the first two. Yeah ok, he made some dumb choices to star in his later movies (or was it his agent?) but anyone who has seen one of his older movies knows that he can do better. I really hate the movie industry for shit like this. On top of that his ex-wife steals 900.000 dollars in insurances from him every year. Man, poor Fraser :(

I'm guessing the average Facepuncher is probably too young to even know about his best movies. He is 54 years old and made many great and critically acclaimed movies for 30 years already; Born On The 4th of July, Eyes Wide Shut, Rain Man, Vanilla Sky, A Few Good Men, The Firm, The Color Of Money, Valkyrie... The people criticizing him might want to widen their own horizons, check out his other films and learn why he is such a well know actor and still relevant after all these years.
I mean i like a few of his older stuff but recently he's just been so boring and samey
I do agree some of his newer movies are similar, it's mostly action or sci-fi. But then again, that is the current state of Hollywood. Drama and thrillers are not getting into headlines like they used to.
Tom Cruise was also good in Edge of Tomorrow, I really enjoyed that movie. I though the first Mission: Impossible was good too, as was Ghost Protocol. EDIT: really the problem with Cruise is that he's kind of fucking nuts in real life, but I think he's a fairly good actor when he gets the right role.
But I like the goofy charm the first two had...They were fun movies. Why so gritty?
The original film is one of my favorite movies of all time because it had so much charm to it. This just... looks soulless.
So the only realistic choices would have been a smaller scale horror, or another big action comedy. They choose big generic action drama instead. Mummy design seems totally uninspired and boy if these characters aren't going to be wooden as fuck.
Having a Mummy without humor delivered by a Jonathan Carnahan-esque character will suck the soul out of the franchise. John Hannah did a slap up job across all 3 films in that regard.
