Millions have assumed the GTA V PC port would surface eventually, largely as a result of Grand Theft Auto IV's overwhelming popularity on the platform; however, Rockstar has remained mum on any potential GTA V PC port up to this point. Fortunately, not every potential source of GTA V PC information has been quite so leak-proof. In fact, some folks even seemingly-official references to the GTA V PC port before Grand Theft Auto 5 was even on store shelves, after doing a bit of digging around in files from the Xbox 360 build of GTA V. While far from a guarantee, the news made waves among fans of the series, particularly those holding out hope for an optimized GTA V PC port in the near future. Now, new proof of an upcoming GTA V PC release has been unearthed, this time via XML files from the PlayStation 3 version of Rockstar Games' latest hit, and many fans are starting to realize that it's likely just a matter of time before the studio officially confirms plans for GTA V PC.
The question now is when, I really don't hope i'll have to wait for months again.
-wow im stupid i read the title wrong-
I hope this forces Rockstar to announce a date!
Rockstar PLEASE GIVE US A DATE :C [sp]and please dont be in 17 months[/sp]
I hope it's no more than a year, I've already made up my mind to just wait for PC but it would suck to wait that long.
And now we are just waiting for the magic words from Rockstar. Honestly, who thought this WOULDN'T happen?
I'm still putting bets that it'll be released the same time as the XBone and PS4 versions are released.
this leads me to believe that they're actually still working on it and not just holding back because they want more money.
Rockstar PLEASE GIVE US A DATE :C [sp]and please dont be in 17 months[/sp]
April/May 2014. No earlier, maybe later. No later than August 2014.
Really cool, I can't wait for the PC version, although evidently I can, since I'm getting my PS3 back next week, along with GTA V as a complimentary "sorry for borrowing your console and never giving it back" gift.
I hope it's no more than a year, I've already made up my mind to just wait for PC but it would suck to wait that long.
Same here. I am tempted to get it on Xbox but I'm just not a big console fan per my personal preferences. I'm just going to wait; what sucks is not having a release date for PC. I'd be fine with even just a rough month in which they intend to release the PC port.
OpenGL 4 or bust
I'd assume they're planning on roughly a six month delay, just like previous GTAs.
this leads me to believe that they're actually still working on it and not just holding back because they want more money.
Why wouldn't they be working on it? Porting a massive game from a 360/PS3 to a PC and doing it RIGHT can take a while. The major reason they do the delayed releases for GTA games is to get more money from people buying it twice. It has worked since like GTA 3, and it will not stop unless PCs suddenly take over consoles in sales (pretty much never going to happen).
Damn it, come out already for PC, I can only play/borrow other peoples copies for so long.

Just wait for the PC version instead of caving in and buying a console to play it on. It's great but don't get tempted by the hype. It's not worth an extra $300 if that's all you're planning to play on it

Have a minimum of 5 games that you want to play before buying a console. One/two of them should be something you can play past the campaign with or without multiplayer, like GTA V or COD or Halo or whatever.
Last time they certainly didn't do it right. On launch day GTA4 was one of the all-time worst PC port jobs. As I recall, it took months of patches and modding community work to overcome Rockstar's bugs and shitty optimization
I really don't mind waiting for the real version because I'll be playing the game the way the developers intended.
I'm excited to hear that it's been worked on for so long. Now we know it won't be a hack job getting it onto pc.
Rockstar PLEASE GIVE US A DATE :C [sp]and please dont be in 17 months[/sp]
I don't understand it; we praise Rockstar, we buy their games, we make them a nice petition, and they still won't date us :c I guess game developers just don't like nice guys
April/May 2014. No earlier, maybe later. No later than August 2014.
I wouldn't be so sure about that. Lots of money to be made Xmas season.

i really don't get it. what makes it hard to develop for PC when it's developed on it in the first place? how much code do you have to rewrite, if any? what about the assets? pardon my ignorance but i really want some justification on why R*'s taking so fucking long! :v:
There's no actual difficulty involved. They just want to milk console gamers first because two things they seem to hate are modding and the off chance that they'll be pirated.

I am not so sure.
Would SA/any other GTA game as popular without the possibility of modding? I am not so sure.
To be fair, modding for GTA IV was one hell of a hackjob, and we all know it. There's no official support. SA was a whole different ball game.
