There were some frightening moments in Norwalk when a school bus with 40 children on board stalled on Metro-North train tracks Wednesday afternoon.
According to police, the bus, which had just left Silvermine Elementary School stopped at the crossing on Broad Street near Main Avenue around 4 p.m. The driver looked both ways and began to cross the Metro-North tracks when the bus broke down, police said.
Just then, the railroad crossing gates lowered, alerting the driver that a train was approaching. The driver immediately evacuated the bus and moved the students to a safe area.
The southbound Metro-North train stopped 10 feet from the bus, according to police.
Two students received minor injuries while evacuating the bus. They were treated at the scene.[/quote]

It's interesting how buses always break down right on the tracks. Stopping before the tracks is supposed to prevent this but it still happened. Fortunately the train stopped somehow.

The ones that don't break down on tracks and break down shortly before or after aren't covered in news stories.

To be honest, this sounds funny to me. The train had nothing to do with it. They just somehow hurt themselves getting off the bus. :v:

I imagine they were pretty rushed and scared considering there was a fucking train coming.
