Grant Imahara, Tori Bellici, and Kari Byron to reunite for a Netflix series
A tweet from Dragon Con revealed a new Netflix Original series that will feature iconic members of the Mythbusters build team, Kari Byron, Grant Imahara, and Tory Belleci. All that is known about the new series, currently called The White Rabbit Project, is that it will begin airing on December 9.
According to the Nerdist, little to nothing is known about The White Rabbit Project at this time, but more details will hopefully arrive in the near future. The team at the Nerdist tried to search The White Rabbit Project online, but only found an obscure disturbing movie that is obviously not related. However, since the build team is on board with the show, there is speculation that the popular trio will be reunited to perform stunts and create science experiments similar to their roles on Mythbusters.
How can you not enjoy watching Tory hurt himself in every conceivable way
i guess a career at mcdonalds didnt pan out for him

They were entertaining and good, but they took away from when it was just adam and jamie. Any build team, even scotty.
The reboot with just adam and jamie came too late, and the whole revamped format helped kill it.
I like the trio a lot, but them on their own show will be fantastic.

the reboot had nothing to do with discovery's cancelation. the show had perfectly fine viewership both before and after the reboot

These guys handled builds larger than most people can ever expect to be involved in as well as pretty much every type of firearm and explosive you can legally get your hands on for 13~ years. Add in name recognition and I don't think money will ever be a problem for any of them.
I'm on board.

Never actually saw it, nor do I recall the title but they did have a show on Travel Channel last year.
And wasn't part of the reason the build team segments seemed worse due to tacked on "reality" elements? Like the competitions between them and them being "amazed" by common sense stuff?
EDIT: I know, despite having never seen it, due to the on screen programming guide showing how at least Tori and Kari were in it.

you do realize it was a quip on him being in some press videos, right

grant was the spokesperson for mcdonalds for a while but their campaign kind of fell flat because it DID expose the problems with some of their food, namely the 15+ ingredient fries for america only

ya i think half the unpopularity comes from the sort of internet meme myths they tended to do

Never saw that, I honestly thought he was just trying to call Tori dumb.
Exciting, but it just isn't the same without Adam and Jamie. Also, did anyone else read the title with cinematic pauses and a narrator voice in their head?

I still remember most if not all of his accidents on camera

You made me look at the title again, and I fucking misspelled Tori's last name
mods pls
I really hope this isn't some kinda "let's try to figure out / build our own contraptions that magicians use" show.
This made my day.
I got rid of netflix for a while but now I'm more than willing to resume my membership just for this series.
Should be worth a watch, especially if they ditch the old Mythbusters format of dramatic cliffhangers and about 5 goddamn recaps of WHAT WE JUST SAW an episode. Also, if they can be allowed to just talk without having to clearly struggle through cringeworthy dialogue, that would be great.
Would be nice to see Adam and Jamie get in on this but they sound like they're done.
Looking forward to this, I always liked Tori Grant and Kari.

It's a Netflix series. There are no commercials so there's no need to have any recaps and cliffhangers.

Even with commercials, the number of recaps per episode in Mythbusters was pretty ridiculous. You could probably cut ~7 minutes per episode by slicing out the redundant recaps. If you just have to have one, it should only be right before the final test.
the reboot had nothing to do with discovery's cancelation. the show had perfectly fine viewership both before and after the reboot
It did and didn't. Viewership did infact decline with the reboot and was criticized. The reboot itself was a team decision mostly on jamie and adams end. The show for 3 seasons focused heavily on builds before it reduced itself to a more simple, and marketable format. Less myths could be done while taking up more time, with less building being show, more building actually being done off camera, and a larger budget for more spectacular thrills.
This alienated some from the show and got away from one of the core aspects of the show, which was special effects people building setups using their movie knowledge to show if whats seen on tv/film as well as myths propogated in real life had any value or attributatble truth to them.
The show ultimately met its demise between two factors. One was the sheer longevity of the show, having survived for years and years going on and on. The second ties in with this, running out of myths and focusing more on pop culture episodes for critically acclaimed tv shows that had less to do with actual science but pop culture mixmash and just seeing if some crazy tv finale was all hollywood or some realism. This wasn't a huge departure at all from the original show given they did this from the start, but the topics being selected often were already covered in one way or another and the show became more of a long buildup between just two myths, commercials between, and explosions or destruction.
They wanted, as a team, a return to form where it also valued the hands on knowledge of the two being builders, more science than what was present, while still maintaining a massive wow factor to keep up what they had going. By doing so they ran more into the second of the two issues leading to cancellation; they plum ran out of things to uniquely do. They began to grasp and myths were less of myths or testing but just 'hey whats popular, fruit ninja. can you actually slice like that?' which yes can have a lot of science and wow factor introduced but it really paled in comparison to earlier and even later episodes.
The ultimate cancellation of the show however i belive more just sits in with the fact that Jamie and Adam had one hell of a long running show and it was time for it to end, before they started really reaching.
It is however undeniable that the dropping of the build team and the reboot itself lead to an albiet small, but noticible schism with fans. It did nothing to bring back lost fans; in fact, it drove some away. It had enough momenutm to keep going on that if they really wanted to, they could have been milked.
It's time simply came, and with the new adapatation of youtube short formats and other channels like tested where Adam appears the format just waned.
'perfectly fine' isnt the same as 'insanely popular' which for tv does matter.

Actually the reboot season had a rather sharp drop in viewership, which only returned after they announced the next season was the last and they would be reviewing super popular shows again, and could be seen on-demand online without a cable ID, you'll find most of the viewing of the last season was done online.

To me Kari just seemed like the token woman who was just "there". Pretty boring trio but Grant is pretty awesome so it might be ok
