I wasn't sure if anyone had seen this already, but I was looking up arm prosthesis stuff and found this. It's really neat how they managed to get it to do all of that and act like a real arm and hand. Incredible.
Pretty awesome, I love DARPA. Stick some tags around that link also.
I did, they aren't working.
I did, they aren't working.
You do it with a forward slash in the last one
yes
Snip what the fuck double post.
Selling my kidney probably wouldn't get me enough money for that, huh?
inb4 what a shame I never asked for this augmented bomb
What does it take to become a custodian in their facilities, just being around that stuff would be amazing
Selling my kidney probably wouldn't get me enough money for that, huh?
You could probably get enough if you sold your arm. Or your wife. Or your brother. All joking aside, that thing is fucking cool. Makes me feel better knowing that if anything happens to me in the future, I'll probably be able to get it fixed.
Came in here knowing someone was/is going to post "I never asked for this"
I never asked for this
These kinds of hands wouldn't work with touchscreens right?
My vision is Augme- Wait, that's not right.
I keep rewatching it just to see the fingers flex and move. Gives me chills that that could one day replace an actual arm.
I wonder how strong it is.
I just want to get rid of my arms so I can get these robo arms! They looks so fun!
Man, in the near futur those bionics will be better then our natural limbs. I love the future
Add that artificial skin that i heard about and it will work beautifully.

The dexterity of that thing is amazing.
Now combine it with this and the possibilities are endless
I'll take five. But really, DARPA is amazing, I hope they never change.
Fapping would be amazing
Not sure if I would be comfortable with having an arm like that but this is absolutely incredible
It's stunning how closely it replicates the users movements.
These kinds of hands wouldn't work with touchscreens right?
As long as the touch screen pen works on it,i think it should [editline]30th October 2011[/editline]
Fapping would be amazing
Suddenly error Your penis would not be thankful
LET'S GIVE YOU A TASTE OF GERMAN ENGINEERING
Are there sensors in the arm that allow for the arm to feel the amount of pressure it's applying and to know when it is blocked? That's one thing I think about when I see this kind of advancement. One of the most important things in creating an artificial limb that has the dexterity of a real limb, is allowing the user to know the state of the limb without looking at it. I wonder even if they will make sensors that cover the whole thing so that the user can feel texture and wind, heat and people brushing by. Those are things I find important too. But the range of movement of this arm is incredible, and it's a step in the right direction to help amputees to live a normal life again.
To be honest, it'd be a shame, but cool as hell to have robotic limbs.
