Yep, pretty accurate. Also I didn't know Yahtzee still played Minecraft; kinda cool actually.
i got so pissed when i found out he hadnt reviewed Dark Souls yet
DayZ gets really boring in a short time if you aren't playing with friends or just derping around on cherno roof tops.
with all of the similes yahtzee comes out with i reckon he'd make a great trap rapper

Personally i'd like to hear his opinion and perspective on Dark Souls as well, as well as The Binding of Isaac (it was visually referenced in that one Steam Roundup video). Maybe if he finds the usual grey corporate runoff of September and October to be too mediocre and dull to even try and review, he'd fall back to stuff like that, like how he tossed aside "New" SMB2 in favour of DayZ, since he's no stranger to covering things that aren't specifically recent.
Not going to lie, I thought DayZ was at its best right after the starting weapon was changed to a Makarov. After that, things just started going downhill, especially with the AI changes.
Awesome. Every time you hear about someone 'starting out' in Day Z you hope they have some cool experiences since otherwise the game might seem too unforgiving. Seems that worked out for Yathzee though.

Yeah, I've invested over 200 hours in it (with friends), but lately I haven't played at all. The hackers ruin a lot of the fun. I'll get back into it once the standalone version starts handing out alpha access.
in an off note, im going to be seeing Yahtzee this weekend!
I really enjoy it, but when Im in cities my framerate floats around the 13fps mark and it becomes unplayable :(

He mentioned his experience with Dark Souls in that column of his before; it was mostly the same as his experience with Demon's Souls: not very good. Apparently he doesn't like the fact that the constant dying in the game interrupts the flow of it.
That was pretty accurate but I'm surprised he didn't run into a hacker or mention any problems with installing either Arma or Dayz, which most people tend to have.
My experiences with the game seem to be very different.
Mine are getting an assault rifle with loads of ammo with a friend, finding a bus and some gas in 2h.
Got really boring really quick.
My god, I absolutely dread hearing anything about DayZ.
My beloved ArmA II is now full of DayZ servers and people buying it just for DayZ that it makes me sad.
I literally had to stop listening to the Rooster Teeth podcast after I heard Gavin ask "What is ArmA II anyway?" and no-one could answer, even though they had the fucking game installed and they had never actually played it.
Don't get me wrong, I don't care about hearing about DayZ and stuff, it's all good but it's a bit too badly-made for my tastes, (I mean, ArmA II was made for something completely different to DayZ, which is why it doesn't work usually) but the problem is that everyone doesn't give a damn about the game itself and all I hear is "DayZ DayZ DayZ DayZ!"
I literally gave up on playing ArmA II because I know that I will never find a good server.
I'm glad that DayZ is getting it's own game, though. At least ArmA III won't be almost tainted by DayZ.

If it actually fucking comes out after the shit that's going on in the ArmA III department.
right on the money, the only people you'll find who won't kill you on sight are people low on blood and new people.

People who play DayZ don't usually play the vanilla game at all because it's boring and clunky and different to other FPS games, so I don't know what you're talking about
if anything people who play DayZ will play Takistan Life or something like that for a couple hours and get bored, nothing happened to your precious Arma 2 community
nothing happened to your precious Arma 2 community
Many regular Combined Ops warfare servers got converted to DayZ servers thanks to the mod. Luckily I only ever play ARMA on listen servers with my mates

If you play ArmA 2 on pubs then you are doing it wrong.

Yeah I booted up ARMA 2 to play some Takistan Life and there were no populated servers.
There was 1 Domination server and it only had 10 people in it. Then I look at all the DayZ servers and I see upwards of 40 players on at least 10 servers.

Too bad I don't belong to Col. Videogame's [1520th] REALISM milSiM sperglord actual battalion (no fun) server group. It's really sad to see all of the decent pub servers empty. Pubs with ACRE required are alright since it usually forces everyone to work together. That, and it weeds out the 12 year olds who don't know how to move some files to some folders. There are sadly only a few of those kind of servers that I can find.
feels like he's afraid of criticizing the millions of things horribly wrong with it because he'd lose viewers or something since dayz is the hip new hardcore anti-game
He's said multiple times he's trying to be a critic first and foremost and that people don't like him being nice to games.

Public ACE + acre servers are really good, i was talking about vanilla arma 2 servers where it is hard to get any coordination in the teams. I play on unitedoperations.net . They take the Milsim aspect pretty big, but a good thing about their server is that everyone is allowed to be a squadleader / pilot / command as long you know what you are doing.

I miss the days when me and my buddy could grab an RPG7, stock up on nothing but OG7V warheads and spend the next 2 hours unleashing fragmentation hell on enemy bases from afar.
The games were pretty disorganized but it was quite a lot of fun when you and a few friends hopped into the mess that was pub servers and just go into Rambo mode with a dirtbike.
So fucking true.
Especially the sniper segment. Eketro, anyone?
I'd play on an ACE server but I never have the time to. It just takes too fucking long and I don't have the time to sit for 8 hours and do one mission. I've had the game for I think close to 3 years now.

Back when I played on TAW's Domination server (nothing against them just lost interest) My friend and I used to take a chinook and a tank and fly to the ao with it. He would be in the tank's driver seat and I would literally drop him onto the ground going full velocity in the chopper. He would eventually stop the tank and I would land the helicopter somewhere close and hop in and we would go destroy the AO by ourselves. We also used to both go squad commander and drop the artillery mortars behind the base and use them to continuously launch shells at the ao, We would rack up like 200 kills in a half an hour. That was back before they had a rule against doing that. I think we might have contributed to that.

Especially because DayZ is honestly horrible. All of the issues of ArmA II (Frequent bugs, jerky movement, shit animations) are all thrown in with added bugs, installation problems, and server errors up the ass.
DayZ was awesome back when people worked in teams, but now it is literally glorified PvP. And in a game where you can shoot someone from a mile away and kill them instantly, that does not make for fun.
