WARNING: GRAPHIC
A fire on a music stage spread into a crowd of spectators at a party Saturday night at a Taiwan water park, injuring more than 200 people, authorities said. An accidental explosion of an unknown powder set off the fire near the stage in front of about 1,000 spectators, said Wang Wei-sheng, a liaison with the New Taipei City fire department command center. Wang said 83 people had serious injuries and 131 others have light injuries. It wasn't clear if the colored powder was part of a performance. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/fire-injures-scores-attending-party-taiwan-water-park-32073545 http://focustaiwan.tw/news/asoc/201506270032.aspx
I hope they have to deal with a ton of lawsuits, they should have known that shit could have done that
Holy crap, that's terrifying.
Some of the injured trying to cool their wounds, sadly they will most likely get an awful infection in their burns from that horribly dirty stagnant water filled with people

Maybe if they'd kept that colored powder at the back of the stage where it belongs this wouldn't have happened.
Dust fires are fucking terrifying.
I wish people understood that you aren't actually supposed to cool burn wounds that's really really not a good idea
you are, but not with ice water and not for prolonged periods of time. Would stop, dropping, and rolling have helped? That's what they teach in Kindergarten. Not saying that's easy to remember when you're burning, but just asking.
Would stop, dropping, and rolling have helped? That's what they teach in Kindergarten. Not saying that's easy to remember when you're burning, but just asking.
Pretty hard to stop drop and roll when there's a stampede and the floor is on fire
Should have checked if it was flammable before spraying it on a crowd of people.
Would stop, dropping, and rolling have helped? That's what they teach in Kindergarten. Not saying that's easy to remember when you're burning, but just asking.
Generally rolling inside the fire is considered bad for your health but we have no conclusive proof.
They knew it was flammable, apparently management just didn't expect there to be any open flames. That's the excuse they're using so far :v:.
It looked intentional, in these kinds of events you are supposed to throw paint, not fucking powder which doesn't even stick to clothing or skin.
Should have checked if it was flammable before spraying it on a crowd of people.
Even flour can catch fire when sprayed like that.
Should have checked if it was flammable before spraying it on a crowd of people.
Well a lot of things considered non flammable (like flour) are flammable when in dust form. Not everyone knows that.
Colored paint/dust throwing is a huge thing in India/Sri Lanka. It's used in tons of festivals, and they even have a Color Festival (Holi) based around it. It's pretty fun to be a part of, if there isn't flame, obviously.

I have one in a few weeks, with a bit of luck I wont burn. My question is the pyrotechnics. How were they able to contact the powder. These events usually happen outside.
This is why science is taught in schools. This is why science SHOULD BE TAUGHT in schools.
Poor people, must've been scary as fuck
1 confirmed death.

- Ffs. Funion!-
Man that made my stomach turn, really did. I hope they all recover from this, from the video and pictures it looks pretty gruesome.
