WASHINGTON — President Trump on Friday warned James B. Comey, the former F.B.I. director he fired this week, against leaking anything negative about the president and warned the news media that he may cancel all future White House briefings. In a series of early-morning Twitter posts, Mr. Trump even seemed to suggest that there may be secret tapes of his conversations with Mr. Comey that could be used to counter the former F.B.I. director if necessary. It was not immediately clear whether he meant that literally or simply hoped to intimidate Mr. Comey into silence. “James Comey better hope that there are no ‘tapes’ of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!” Mr. Trump wrote on Twitter.
SOURCE Un. Fucking. Believable.
Can we even make jokes about how guilty he is at this point? It's not even funny. It's actually kind of sad.
Is he threatening Comey? I'm not sure how else to interpret this.
Is he threatening Comey? I'm not sure how else to interpret this.
He is blackmailing a former FBI director Trump better tread very fucking carefully
This isn't a warning, it's blackmail. Trump has fired and attempted to blackmail the person who was leading an investigation into him on charges of treason. That alone should be enough reason to impeach this fascist.
Wowwwwwww As if anything he could dig up could one-up possible fuckin TREASON
I don't understand why you Americans are not out in the streets protesting what is clearly a gross abuse of power. Hell even the dumbest non-trolling (looking at you T_D) must be thinking that he's fucking up badly. [editline]13th May 2017[/editline] Also it's embarrassing that anyone would consider voting for the republicans when they clearly have no spine to do anything about this.
Blackmail. Over twitter. Isn't blackmail a federal offense
Isn't obstructing an investigation an offence as well?
Comey wasn't personally involved in the investigation, nor will the change in leadership in the FBI directly hinder or obstruct the investigation.
Better watch your tone, Comey or he'll call you sad! Or worse, block you on Twitter!
Can't imagine how pissed and embarrassed Comey has to feel right now.
How can anyone defend this, my god. This is public blackmail. :why:
Can't imagine how pissed and embarrassed Comey has to feel right now.
Honestly wouldn't blame him if he found it hilarious how Trump almost seems to be doing his job for him
Can't imagine how pissed and embarrassed Comey has to feel right now.
Embarrassed for who, though?
Bring it on, you giant fucking orange with an IQ to match. I'm betting he does have tapes, and they ultimately exonerate Comey and implicate Trump, but he doesn't even remember events properly and has convinced himself that he "won" that discussion. Trump already lied on multiple occasions that Comey told him he was not under investigation, including in the letter officially firing him. This is a man who convinced himself he never loses -- he carries around the electoral college map from the election because it's something he conclusively won (ignore the [del]millions of fraudulent ballots[/del] popular vote, oops) so that he can remind himself he's still a winner as he gets his daily beatdown for being the shittiest President in living memory.
Isn't obstructing an investigation an offence as well?
Can somebody post a writeup of every infraction Trump is potentially guilty of so far?
Can somebody post a writeup of every infraction Trump is potentially guilty of so far?
https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2017/01/donald-trump-scandals/474726/ this is a fraction of all the things he's done and is doing, not inclusive of the latest breakdowns such as firing Comey and essentially committing two federal offenses in the process.
Can't imagine how pissed and embarrassed Comey has to feel right now.
Pissed, sure. But I bet he also feels some kind of delayed payback feeling, like knowing the guy who fired him is so utterly stupid that his downfall is 100% going to happen sooner than later. He can't say anything right now, but he knows it.
Embarrassed for who, though?
probably for himself, if he didn't decide to reopen the investigation into hillary 11 days before the fucking election, he'd probably still have a job
https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2017/01/donald-trump-scandals/474726/ this is a fraction of all the things he's done and is doing, not inclusive of the latest breakdowns such as firing Comey and essentially committing two federal offenses in the process.
Wait, what?
probably for himself, if he didn't decide to reopen the investigation into hillary 11 days before the fucking election, he'd probably still have a job
Are you saying Trump fired Comey because he was unfair to Hillary because that is incredibly far fetched
probably for himself, if he didn't decide to reopen the investigation into hillary 11 days before the fucking election, he'd probably still have a job
But Trump praised Comey for doing that on several occasions during the campaign
Wait, what?
Blackmail and Coercion are both federal offenses. http://www.clarifacts.com/resources/federal-crimes-list/
probably for himself, if he didn't decide to reopen the investigation into hillary 11 days before the fucking election, he'd probably still have a job
Hahahahahahahaha is this satire?
Are you saying Trump fired Comey because he was unfair to Hillary because that is incredibly far fetched
I think he's saying Hillary would have won.
probably for himself, if he didn't decide to reopen the investigation into hillary 11 days before the fucking election, he'd probably still have a job
Is this a circuitous way of saying that without the e-mail investigation Hillary would've won and wouldn't have fired Comey?
probably for himself, if he didn't decide to reopen the investigation into hillary 11 days before the fucking election, he'd probably still have a job
Considering Trump himself admitted that this was only a pretext to fire him, I find that highly unlikely.
Considering Trump himself admitted that this was only a pretext to fire him, I find that highly unlikely.
He's saying Hilary would've won and presumably believes she wouldn't have fired him.
probably for himself, if he didn't decide to reopen the investigation into hillary 11 days before the fucking election, he'd probably still have a job
Do you mean that in the sense that Hillary would have won the election if he hadn't written that letter? You're probably right on that, yeah. I would be ashamed to have played any part, yet alone such a large one, in helping the despotic fascist in our Oval Office make it to that position. However, to be embarrassed over his firing? Not in the slightest. He wasn't fired because he did something wrong, he was fired because his investigation threatens to topple the regime that Trump has built. Nothing can be allowed to stop that investigation now. No matter what, it has to reach its ugly end. Trump should be impeached for firing and blackmailing Comey in a direct attempt to sabotage the investigation. Obstructing justice and blackmail are felonies, and easily constitute as high crimes given the nature of the offenses. Trump, at the least, should be sent to prison for that. While he laments his fall from "grace" in prison, we should follow through on the investigation for treason. If sufficient evidence comes to light (which I'm now all but certain it will), charge him with treason, round up everybody within his administration who played a role in that treason, and lock them up for the rest of their lives.
