Some people can be so cold an unfeeling, can't they?

So yeah. In science we were working on our project while watching the news about the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
I was praying for the people in Japan (like really praying, hands together and everything), and asked everyone around me to do the same.
And then my friend Joe pipes up.
"I hope they all die."
I swung around to look at him and I swear my eyes felt like they were staring at him with burning embers for pupils. I asked him why he thought that. Apparently he was still mad at Japan for Pearl Harbor, as 4 of his great uncles died there. I explained to him: "Dude, the entirety of Japan didn't say, 'Hey, let's go bomb Hawaii!' Why should they suffer now?"
He just wanted them to.
Mind you that this is a person who constantly says he wishes somebody would kill Obama.
So yeah. I think he needs counseling.
I laughed when you told all your friends around you to pray. That's like asking a jew to tip a waitress
Get a new friend.
OP is going to get flamed for doing something religious.
wow your friends are so cold an unfeeling
he knows you watch my little pony, so he doesn't want to be friends with you anymore and is trying to find a way to make you not talk to him.
I personally just see this as life and I go on with it without giving much care or thought to many events occurring throughout the world good or bad.
I actually felt more sad today from personal things than the events abroad.
Well, basically everyone at my school doesn't give a fuck about Japan except for a few weeaboos who were extremely depressed over it.
Nothing new here, I live in America.
They aren't heartless, they just lookit.

"Hey look at me I am soo cool and edgy"
Why is he your friend?
Also a suggestion don't ask people to pray, but instead ask if they'd like to join you. Seems kind of pretentious to blatantly ask people to pray for someone else, and puts them in a bit of an awkward position (Makes them seem like assholes if they say no due to differing religious views)
For some reason, I cannot make myself feel for events out of my control.

Also this.
I mean I feel sorry for the people it happens to, but there is absolutely nothing I can or could have done to prevent it or help afterward, so I don't really feel THAT bad.
However I'm not a total dick and say things like 'lol I hope they die'

Do you aways try to start a shitstorm.

Mind you, when he said "They," he meant EVERY SINGLE JAPANESE PERSON. He made that clear.
Not even mentioning what you said made no sense

OP is a warm an feeling person.
I would've felt extremely awkward if you were like "COME PRAY WITH ME" since 1.) I'm not religious and 2.) I don't give a shit. I'm not trying to be cool and edgy and be like "Yeah I hope they all die" while twirling a cigarette around in my fingers, I just seriously, honestly, don't give a shit. When 9/11 happened (I'm an American) I didn't give a shit. And I was really young at that point, too. Everyone was crying and I was just watching the TV, watching the planes ram the tower, not a twinge of emotion in my heart.
No, I'm not an emotionless robot I'm just a selfish bastard. The only time I can really feel for disasters like that is if I'm somehow connected or I could relate. I had no family in the twin towers so I didn't give a fuck, and I have no friends or family in Japan so I don't give a fuck. Completely different story if my brother/friend was in 9/11 or Japan when shit hit the fan.
Probably teen angst and some other shit.

Thing is, I knew all my friends were Christian and all prayed to God, so I knew it was okay to ask.
Seems like you friend didn't give a fuck.
I don't give a fuck either, happens all the time. Several thousand people die everyday of starvation and poverty in Africa, people are forced to go into crime to survive.
So, I do not give a flying fuck if the most Advanced country in the world gets a Tsunami and a few earthquakes.
Few hundred, maybe 1 or 2 thousand people died in Japan.
Get over it, and dont make a thread about it since nobody fucking cares.

I think you should donate to the red cross instead
newer generations are a bit more desensitized, they tend to care less and have less emotion

future is going to be a lot duller

yes do something physicly helpful instead of pointing your head towards your crotch.
also; it sucks no doubt, but shit happens.

Are you seriously going to put down someone's religious beliefs? No one's insulting you here.
you got tROLLED
Are you seriously going to put down someone's religious beliefs? No one's insulting you here.
He's being honest. Getting on your knees, putting your hands together and mumbling isn't going to solve anything. Go over there and help if you want to really get something done.
Get different friends OP, people like that are just never going to change.
